On the flip side, guaranteed no injuries.

And a timely weeks rest.

Dont lose and it won't be a problem :P

Unfortunately though I think you are right, and it could prove costly given how tight the top 4 is.

Hurts the B grade more than the A grade, they are 2nd, equal on points with Lockleys, with only a small % seperating them from top spot.

But wont it be a 100% win??? which is better for you & not so good for Lockleys.

Mr Beefy wrote:Can't tell if serious or not, a 200 point win is better than a 60 point win

Yeah I was. A forfeit is generally a 60 points to nothing win which makes it 100%. If its a 200 point win but the opposition scores then its not a 100% win. If its a 200 points to nothing win then yeah that's better than just the 60 points for a forfeit. Hope that makes sense coz I think I've confused myself.

Makes sense cracka, and in most circumstances you would be correct, the percentage is largely dependant on how much the opposition scores, wouldn't imagine they'd kick many therefore opportunity to increase percentage is gone

Percentage is calculated as a ratio - For / For + Against *100

If Ingle Farm beat Angle Vale 300-100, a 200 point win, their percentage will go from 73.2 to 73.5. If they cop the forfeit, their percentage will go to 73.9.

In almost all but the most extreme of cases, which I wouldn't have ruled out with those two sides playing, you're better off, percentage wise, getting the forfeit score - it's designed that way!

Given the advantage they will get by not playing I reckon Ingle Farm should be more than happy to get the 60-0 percentage.

No offence but i dont think you have a good understanding of percentage. As i mentioned earlier, it's not so much the margin that makes the difference, it's the points conceded.

For instance if Ingle Farm won same score as last week WC v AV (142-4), percentage would jump to 74.15%

Even using Flinders Pk v Angle Vale result (101-14) percentage would increase to 73.10%

But yes I think as disappointed as several blokes would be about not playing, percentage aside there is far more positives to be taken out of this given Ingle Farm have a tough month of football coming up after next week, and some sore bodies could use a week extra to recover. Playing Angle Vale (apart from %) was really a nothing to gain game for all involved - included Angle Vale

Can't blame them, it's been a testing season and they've copped some severe hidings, morale must be rock bottom and fielding a B grade side against another top side on a small ground wouldn't do anything to benefit that morale plus could end up with injuries etc and be worse off than they currently are.

Surely the duty of any Club would be to first field an A Grade side regardless whether they are B. C or D grade players.

Is there a regulation regarding the priority of fielding sides for a Cub?

I was under the impression that lowest grade forfeits first and then moves up.

You can't forfeit C's and field a D grade although I seem to recall an incident with Mudbery a few years back.

Rules could've changed since then though.

If you applied the same rationale to the Ingle Farm A-Grade i.e. they beat Angle Vale by the same score West Croydon beat them by, then Ingle Farm's percentage would have gone to 77.12%. The forfeit takes their perecentage to 74.00%. They will sacrifice percentage as a result of being denied a game. In the longer term, maybe the week's rest will offset that.

Naw shucks, cheers Ash. You summed it well when we spoke last, umpire how you play the game.

What happens then if you play like shit?? ;) Does that mean you umpire like shit??

You would know more about that than LM and myself!

What you trying to imply Ash??

Yeah exactly Senor, what is better, the possibility of an extra 3% or a week off.

I know what I would prefer.
