MEDIA RELEASE – NOARLUNGA FOOTBALL CLUB
Recently, there has been discussion within the football community regarding the Noarlunga Football Club. Some of that conversation has been based on speculation, and unfortunately it has begun to impact the reputation of a club with 129 years of proud history.
We are here to set the record straight.
Yes, we have seen some senior players move on. These changes have come through a mix of natural retirements, relocations, and personal decisions — all normal parts of community football. Like many clubs experience at different times, change can sometimes create uncertainty.
Subsequently, this caused the unfortunate loss of our A Grade Coach due to low playing numbers at training.
But let us be very clear:
We are not merging.
We are committed to try to field a full set of Saturday sides.
We are here, we are strong, and we are not going anywhere.
Every football club faces periods of transition. What makes Noarlunga different is how we respond. Our history shows we don’t back down — we stand up.
Let us take you back to 2013, when 26 players walked out. Many thought it was the end.
The very next year? 2014 HISTORICAL Premiership.
That is the Noarlunga way. Resilient. United. Relentless.
We place no blame on anyone. Football journeys take different paths. But we do call on our community — past players, supporters, families, and future Shoes — to stand tall with us. Your loyalty, your leadership, and your decision to come home or join us now makes you part of building the next chapter of our story.
We would like to emphasise that our Mini’s program is extremely strong as it always has been and this should cast no doubt on your success. We see this as a great opportunity for all players to experience football being a part of a phenomenal coaching group. Especially with Tom Caudle (ex-SANFL) and Josh Thewlis (ex-AFL).
What this does mean:
We are actively recruiting for an A Grade Coach and players to come home or come join us in a period of genuine change.
We will continue to field our juniors sides for as long as you stay committed to us and we assure you of our commitment to you, your children, and their development and future in football.
You are not just signing up for a season.
You are becoming part of the foundation of our future.
Because one thing history has proven time and time again:
It is worth it.
We will make history again.
We never stop fighting.
WE ARE THE MIGHTY SHOES

Re: Southern Football League
With all due respect the landscape is completely different - Namely salary caps and a far more scrutinised points systems compared to 12-13 years ago. Seems controversial however Noarlunga are in a unique pocket of Adelaide and seem more suited to the tiered system of ammo’s. Just an opinion and I’m aware it won’t be well received, however it’s pretty clear that they have been dropping away gradually in a set league over a number of years. Great club and people.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Re: Southern Football League
Fair play to NFC to try get around of the apparent hole they are currently in. President dialed in to 5AA last night to set a few things straight, deny some rumours (mergin) and spoke about the fact that rumours have contributed to some of the damage done (player exodus). Plenty happening on their socials at the moment...currently advertising for an A grade coach etc. Maybe they need to examine the Port Noarlunga blueprint considering they were rock bottom no too long ago.
No one likes a bye round, so hopefully things are on the up.

Re: Southern Football League
It has been coming for awhile solely based on their junior system and relying on the old players to keep strapping on the boots year after year to keep teams on the field. Every year was the same story, recruit a couple of good players and ask their older players to not retire and keep on playing. Hopefully they can turn it around.

Trying to buy a flag is what got them in the hole in the first place!SFLanalyst wrote:Fair play to NFC to try get around of the apparent hole they are currently in. As others have mentioned, it's the lack of juniors that's their biggest issue. Seaford and surrounds is big enough to support two teams, Portie$ have just done a great job of filling their junior programs and making them successful.

Re: Southern Football League
Time for a holiday, I think I agree...
The current Shoes are a result of the previous $hoeS committee/leadership, which has clearly rooted the club.
Going to take a mountain of work if this club is going to thrive again.

How does that work? Can he only play reserves at South? Not sure of the top-up rules and they seem to be constantly changing

I'm guessing he meant Ironbank as they'd lost a few and are lacking junior teamsjake the snake wrote:Which two? Heard some very good recruits heading to ironbank and numbers are very solid.Happytowatchlocal wrote:SFL down to 8 teams if 2 teams dont turn it around fast

I seem to recall that Burgoyne was given permission to play in WWT league side last year.
I think it’s a wheel spin and where it stops is the decision you get.

Re: Southern Football League
Examine Port Noarlunga blueprint, juniors yes - seniors I will disagree, blind Freddy can see they are that far over player payments it's ridiculous. Still the SANFL and SFL stick their heads in the sand.wenchbarwer wrote:Trying to buy a flag is what got them in the hole in the first place!SFLanalyst wrote:Fair play to NFC to try get around of the apparent hole they are currently in. “The Ironbank Football Club is excited to welcome two new signings for the upcoming season — Luke Watson and Matt Beinke.

We’re looking forward to the impact he’ll have both on and off the field.
Matt Beinke adds some serious height and versatility to the group at 6’5”. Best known for his ruck work and strong contested marking, Matt is a former A Grade Best & Fairest winner at Aldinga and has played association football across both the Southern and Hills leagues. We’re excited to have him on board for 2026 and to see the experience he brings to the playing group.
