Hopefully our sad sack chef de mission lightens up a bit as this is the event she competed in.....

What do you suggest? Possibilities could be Lip pouting, spray tanning, house renovating. Texting whilst driving or walking with selfie stick for the combo

Sitting on the couch posting on the SA Footy Forum would be a hot contested event.

You couldn't have seen anyone as cool under pressure as she was in the running and shooting section. Hopefully some of the higher profile athletes who flopped were watching how it's done.

Agreed, just watched the replay and she was friggin amazing. The big Polish lass went to water in the shooting component.
Is it a coincidence that most of our Gold medal winners are relative no namers and battlers whilst the so called stars of our side have flopped?
When you hear of how hard people like Esposito have worked with bugger all funding it must make them that little bit hungrier for success

I agree Jim. Been reflecting on the games, and the Aussie success. Overall have we achieved a par, or sub par performance? For me a bit below par. The Gold medals I have enjoyed the most have come from the unknowns..... Chalmers in the swim, the clay shooting girl, who's name escapes me (I enjoyed her post medal interviews - down to earth girl) and now Esposito another to come from more or less no where. The rower Kim Brennan - while still an exceptional performance, I had at least heard of her. The Rugby Seven Girls was good to watch as well. In fact I enjoyed the sevens enough to go watch a game, if it was ever on here in Adelaide.

Couldn't name one of our Rugby Girls side and had never heard of Horton, Esposito, Skinner or the Sailor guy. Even Chalmers was a relatively unknown to most. Brennan and the Girls 4x100 were the only ones who lived up to their rankings/hype.

Re: Olympic Games - Rio 2016 - XXXI Olympiad
Caught a bit of the BMX action earlier. The Aussies in men's looked dominant in the Qualifying heats. We even drew the first 2 spots on the start line, which appeared to be a huge advantage. Basically win the start get the inside line into the first corner, so long as you don't go tits up... You win. Sam Willoughby would devo after his ride in the final... 5th or 6th from the best alley.

Should the BMX final be decided over 3 runs, as per the heats? Would make more sense. Disappointing result for the men.

40 year old Scott Westacott will make his Olympic debut tonight in the men's marathon. Thank goodness for the youth policy at At
hletics Australia.
