Re: SANFL Junior codes
Has anyone heard of permits being banned this season and kids only being allowed to play one game per weekend?
For instance, some kids play for Salisbury North under 14's on a Sunday and Virginia under 14's on a Saturday using a permit, there a re many more examples but I heard last week that they are getting scrapped.

Oh shit! My lad will be spewing, it's the first time he has asked if he could and now he'll have to choose between playing a year above himself and with his group of mates that he hangs with or staying with the team he had just joined last season won their B&F and played in a GF.

Why would that be? Helps fill out numbers, we have had a number of boys play in our Saturday teams but then play SANFL juniors on a Sunday.
What if one club had teams in 2 different comps?

I have no idea why? I have heard it's pretty much been rubber stamped.
Yes, that does open up a can of worms, I know of one club up our way that fits into this category and one lad in particular plays 4 games a weekend, 5 on development squad weeks, I'm not sure if he plays school footy on top of that.

Yep, but we don't play June long weekend. Win win!
My lad plays in the local cricket U12's and their grand final (should they make it) is April 7.

Yes and no.
Yes to the ones involved in the system like you and I, as we know that these players that double up help clubs get numbers over the line so more teams can play each weekend.
No to those that sit in front of text books and behind computer screens from the upper echelon, as they think these kids that double up are taking spots that other kids could be occupying.
Problem is, there is no other kids now as the game is becoming too sanitised, under 6's play for points in soccer.

Re: SANFL Junior codes
Same argument for kids that play college footy on Saturday then, if they are going to be consistent they wont allow them to play on Sunday either.

That's what I'm hearing, a bit harder to police though.

Is this across the board or just SAAFL juniors. Ironbank posted on their Facebook page of needing more juniors & can get permits for kids who play Sunday footy

Hmmm, meant to be across the board, how many junior comps are there playing Sunday's besides the SANJFL?

Re: SANFL Junior codes
Ironbank are stuffed if what LM has heard is correct.
SFL have had u14's/u15's/u16's Sunday comps in recent years, don't know what the position is for 2019 yet.
We had nearly 90+ kids turn up for 3 teams (u13/u15/u17.5) for our 1st pre-season session on Monday, going to be kids missing out unless there is a Sunday comp to play in.

this is exactly why it would've been implemented.

Anyone know the reasoning behind this? Surely Round 1 could have just been on April 28th?

Re: SANFL Junior codes
Meant if it was started on April 28th there would need to be a game on the June long weekend to fit the season in on time

Fair enough. No doubt there would be more complaints about that rather than this option!
I thought the season used to always start end of April/start of May in years gone by and there was never any footy on the june long weekend either..

SANFLJ tested the waters last year with a game on the June long weekend, and it wasn't popular at all, hence it has been scrapped for this year.
Why aren't there any games on 13-15 April? School Holidays?
I haven't seen the draw yet myself.
