After the leagues comments in relation to the broken back in the scotch game, it will be interesting to see if they play the same card again in relation to Jolly's hit on the weekend.

I saw the vision earlier today. About 20.35 or 21.35 of the full match video. And it's the PNU Jolly not the PAOC Jolly. No cards just a free kick. Although PAOC lad who was first to remonstrate got yellowed. No case to answer in my opinion. Not sure what he was trying to achieve by standing the mark right where the bloke was laying injured and getting in the way of the trainers but also makes you wonder why the umpire didn't instruct him to move away or else have a 10 minute spell. That's the frustration with the umps at the moment. They love showing who's boss with dishing out yellows for a bit of backchat or some minor push and shove but that is a perfect example of showing some sensible authority by telling the player to move away and they just stood there and allowed Jolly to make a bit of a dick of himself.
Fairly sure it meets the requirements of a Category A offense as outlined in (a) part (vii) “Making forceful contact to an opponent from front-on when that players has their head down over the football”. In fact I’d go as far as to say you couldn’t find a more exact example of that charge.
Now if they are going to say they don’t want to report him, that’s fine, but why have the rule then?
The player he hit was helped from the field and never returned. Safe so say there was sufficient force.

Looks like Jolly had eyes on the ball. He ran head first himself, didn’t turn and bump. Good decision not to card in my view. Princes flog deserved a card. It’s quite obvious he only went Jolly because he was on his knees and wouldn’t say boo if the big fella was standing up. No problems with Jolly standing the mark either. Didn’t really get in the way.

Looking at the footage, that seems a fair assessment. Both Latchford and Jolly had their heads down and were both going for the footy. Jolly catches Latchord high, free kick to PAOC. Latchford's brother comes in and takes Jolly high and is rightly given a yellow. What I don't understand is why the free kick wasn't over turned and given to PNU. Can't see Jolly having a case to answer there.

But 29 games until a D2 flag?
Unlikely but its interesting how the assumption is "oh we'll just play a year in div 2" is a cosy cushion.... it may take 5 years to be in div 1 again.
Reserves always strong.... its a great breeding ground for our local country clubs
