Because in several cases it seems reputation may have prevailed.

Comparing a few L Creek players

Jarrod Kellock 6 games 8 goals 3 times in best players 5th 4th 4th

Lachy McGregor 4 games 14 goals just once in best players

Both make Team of the Year - Both have been Superstars over the last decade and no doubt would be in the leagues best 21 if such a team was picked but a bit hard this season going on those stats if it's this seasons performances they are going on.

Compare those 2 to another pair of Creek players that didn't make it

Coby Helyar 9 games 28 goals In best players 6 times

Caleb Howell 9 games 14 goals In best players 5 times.


Anyway on to more important matters. The Big question in football circles is whether LIMB fronts in the Magoos Premiership decider on Saturday after getting the call up last week and doing a superb job in keeping Willungas key forward goaless.
With potentially up to 6 players to come back in for the Creeks B Grade side theres gonna be some unlucky omissions from those that got the job done last week.

Yes, one would think playing at least 6 or 7 games out of the 9 would make the T.O.Y more creditable but who knows , maybe games played had nothing to do with the criteria of being selected ?

Creek and E Bay have previously met only once in a Grand Final and that was the Creeks debut year in the GSFL in 1978. Coming off 3 flags in a row in the HFL the Creeks made it 4 on the trot in defeating the Bays 18 - 7 to 11 - 16 at Port Elliot

Saturdays decider is set to be played in warm and windy conditions where winning the toss and capitalizing on kicking with a strong Northerly could go a long way in determining the result.

We have just reappointed our A Grade Coach Braden Bayly, and are now looking to fill all remaining grades to take on Season 2021. We are looking for Saturday Competition Coaches for B Grade, U17.5, U15 & U13. Sunday U14 Girls, U17 Girls and A Grade Ladies, along with Mini's U8, U10 & U12 and an Auskick Co-ordinator.
We are looking for enthusiastic Coaches with a minimum Foundation Coaching accreditation (or prepared to attain their accreditation) with a passion for coaching and a strength in effective communication.

Creeks to make it 3 in a row for me by 14 points tho a Bays win certainly not out of the question.
Bays are battle hardened this being their 13th match on the trot without a week off whilst the Creeks are well rested and only playing their 2nd game in the last month.
Creeks with 15 of last years Premiership team lining up may just have too much experience but will not want to have the Yips in front of goal like their last home game against Yank in Breezy conditions which look like being similar tomorrow and about 15c warmer.
Bit of a gamble Creeks bringing in Mitch Cleggett after not playing for 8 weeks and coming back from his 2nd hamstring strain where he didnt last a quarter in Rd 5 v Willunga.

B Grade should be a flip of a coin job.
Creeks fielding their best team for the year despite missing a few may kick start a Big day for the home club.

As i predicted it was a flip of the coin job with L Creek prevailing by 1 solitary point by somehow protecting a 9 point half time lead despite only managing to kick 2 behinds in the 2nd half

The A Grade saw a terrific high scoring contest in the 1st half with a late burst of goals to the Creeks go in with the momentum at half time to the tune of 18 points. The Creeks absorbed the pressure in the 3rd term as the Bays valiantly tried to stay in touch as the Creeks grinded on to a 27 point lead at 3/4 time. Being a warm day despite the cloud cover and the well rested Hawks still with plenty of energy in the tank the bays deep down knew it was a Bridge to far to cross for them as the Creeks piled on 8 goals in the last term to waltz away to a 61 point win to record 3 Flags in a row.
All the Creeks experienced Big guns were to the for throughout the day and even when the Bays appeared to catch a break in the 3rd term when Sellar left the field with what appeared to be a match ending leg injury he reappeared in the last term to put the icing on the cake with a few more majors of his own. Mitch Cleggett who i mentioned may have been a risk playing after an 8 week lay off certainly dispelled those doubts and almost single handedly broke the apart in the 2nd term by slotting through 3 quick goals and handing another off.
As most would know, so much that goes into winning a flag is done off the field and for the Creek footy Club to back up again this season on the back of having a new President (2 actually co-Presidents) new Secretary, new Treasurer and a new coach is a great credit to all involved at the Club.

Old Lake Breeze Winery should have taken a punishment over the last few years from the footballers. Tremendous servants of Langhorne Creek FC are the Folletts.
