I can't recall Walkies fielding an U16 side since my involvement in Junior footy at Broadview which is about 8 years and pretty much for the reasons given.

Also don't have an U18 side that I am aware of. Hopefully a few of these lads head slightly north-east if they are looking for a game

Walkerville wouldn't have fielded an Under 16s team for years (off the top of my head).

They tend to lose a lot of kids to College First 18s and SANFL junior programs. As anyone involved in kids football knows, finding fresh 15/16 year olds is the hardest age group to fill.

It seems a little early to be making the call of no team, buy the looks of things they have the basis of a team but are just sending them away

Walkerville wouldn't have fielded an Under 16s team for years (off the top of my head).

They have that basis for years, hopefully they get a side together and make it work

For most intents and purposes the juniors there have historically run as a separate football club to the seniors.

They have different uniforms, websites, everything

Interesting to see with the change of seasons how sports do things differently now to Aussie Rules.

Scores being published of cricket from U9 above, tennis and baseball and pretty sure i saw soccer results throughout the year as well.

Can anyone confirm what i am hearing that with football, it is in progress and in 2015, there are no scores, premiership points and finals in the U11 comp and it all starts at U 12 for 2015 and then U13 in 2016

May as well scrap wins, losses, ladders and finals for every league outside of the top level. Pretty soon the AFL will say adults earning under $200k per year aren't able to handle success and failure.

Absolutely incorrect, there are life lessons to be learnt in both winning and losing. If you don’t think that kids will still count there wins and losses then you're severely mistaken, same as they will count their goals. Kids these days are too often wrapped in cotton wool, there is nothing wrong losing, it enables you to strive to do better. How about making more even competitions then taking away the rights to win and lose.

So many people here are experts on children's cognitive, physical and sporting development; bloody awesome stuff.

Can't be bothered looking back through, but i swear someone gave the argument along the lines of "back when I was a boy.........and I turned out alright"; sensational.

This will improve the environment we provide to these little footballers on so many levels.

We changed our 8s and 9s to 9-a-side this year and it was the best move our League has ever made. One of the weaker clubs mentioned that there whole team kicked 20 goals the season the previous season, this year they kicked 100 in each team. We have improved those kids' footy experience out of sight, more kicks, more goals, more interaction with the game and overall a higher quality experience.

A great example for me this year was with the u13s girls comp we ran. Kept scores, but no premierships, and the quality of coaching, sportsmanship and environment for development was exceptional. Provided an incredible comparison to the boys younger premiership comps.

I bet in your (hopefully not ours) premiership u11/12 grades, you will start the biggest kid in the ruck, best player in the centre, best catch at full forward and weakest players in the pockets, and do it basically every game. And most importantly, the coach will get to live out his life long dream of pretending to coach AFL.

Lets hope innovative leagues continue to adopt change when the research and experts provide us with the direction.
