Fair enough. No doubt there would be more complaints about that rather than this option!
I thought the season used to always start end of April/start of May in years gone by and there was never any footy on the june long weekend either..
SANFLJ tested the waters last year with a game on the June long weekend, and it wasn't popular at all, hence it has been scrapped for this year.
Why aren't there any games on 13-15 April? School Holidays?
I haven't seen the draw yet myself.
Yeah, it was a silly idea last year, I had to stay home while the wife went away as we already had 6 kids going away from our team, one parent drove back from Edithburgh for the match.
They usually don't play on the weekend in the middle of the school holidays.

For instance, some kids play for Salisbury North under 14's on a Sunday and Virginia under 14's on a Saturday using a permit, there a re many more examples but I heard last week that they are getting scrapped.
This is wrong LM, you can play both

Do you know where I can find out? The APFL seem to think it's in effect as do coaches I've spoken to form the Barossa and SANFL Junior comps?

Aren't the SANFL involved with the 18's now though?

Involved? The Adelaide Football Comp sits underneath the SANFL (or, "within" perhaps is a better term).
There is/was discussion about the 18's being moved to SANFL but I'm not sure if that's settled or to be settled.

Adelaide Footy League will be running the U18's in 2019 on Sunday Arvo
Permits will not be allowed for players to play in different comps on the same weekend (Barossa Saturday and SANFL Juniors Sunday) .
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.
Let that be a lesson to you, Port Adelaide Sturt. & Norwood You don't beat Glenelg in Grand Finals and get away with it.

This is usually the age group that country leagues (played on Saturdays) struggle to fill. These permits have helped a few clubs to be able to field teams over the years.

Re: SANFL Junior codes
Thoughts ppl, if a club with plenty of juniors rings a neighbouring club who busts there guts to fill sides and then has the nerve to ask them
" If you can't fill certain side can you send the kids to us so we can feel our second side"
The SANFL JUNIORS is starting to become a joke.

The SANFL JUNIORS is starting to become a joke.
Being connected with a club that struggles to fill sides, it is certainly frustrating that the big clubs want to fill second and even third teams in some cases.
Last year we had to combine 4 teams to make 2 and let the excess walk to other clubs. They will likely never return.
Whilst coaching a few years ago, and struggling to get 18 players each week, there was a club 2min up the road that had to roster kids off each week to have only 22 players for the day. I asked them why they wouldn't send the excess to us, and it's because they didn't want to lose them for future years.
If my kids were in that situation of not being able to play every week, I'd think I'd move them to somewhere they could. Fortunately I've never been in this situation though.

Mate, you've gotta look at why them other clubs are more popular, the more popular ones actually charge more too, look at what your own club can do differently to make your club more attractive to the unknown.
People make the difference, having a strong committee and developing a great family culture is what parents want from the club their kids play at.
