I seem to remember this rule causing some controversy in a one-day semi final about 3 years ago and I don't think it exists anymore...
Yep it only exists for unnatural events, ie sprinklers coming on or something like that. Pretty confident we will at least get a one day game in on Sunday. Juniors have back up ovals.

Days, or anyone else, can you explain to me the thinking on the minor premier winning promotion from A1Reserves to A1, when a grand final is played? It's not something I've seen before.

It's a fair point, kind of makes the grand final worth nothing, if you accept the main goal of being in the A1r is getting promoted

To make a successful transition to A1 grade you need to be the best team all year and have most of your players available for the whole season not just for 2 weeks at the end of the year. The 4th ranked team if it happened to win the flag would get smashed in A1. I was a fan of the 2 up 2 down which allowed the minor premier and the next highest ranked team at the end of finals to move up.

Thought it might have been something like that. Still not sure what to make of it.
I like the 2 up/2 down theory - why is that not in place?

From memory Kapunda went down the other year and were still a chance of playing finals going into the last round. I think they ended up being relegated by about 6 runs or something ridiculous like that...
From my point of view that makes it a bit harsh for a side in that position to go down to div two when a different result could have had them in the finals. If we ever get to a 10 team A1s comp then it would be a good idea to have 2 up/2 down...
