We are all too uneducated to understand the perils of allowing kids to compete in any manner.

As there are no scores, why do we need goal posts? Surely we don't want one or more players standing out from the rest in any way just because they can kick the ball straight. It is disgraceful that we allow children to celebrate kicking goals, that is not fun, just being out there and getting lots of easy kicks without any challenge is fun and much more important to their development.

Out of the 9 SA lads drafted yesterday, 5 came from the MSJFL. Not a bad effort.

Great work MSJFL! Also very proud that 2 played juniors for Unley. Wish all the SA lads, and indeed all the new AFL recruits, the best of luck.

Hearing some clubs in the NEMJFA area have been struggling for numbers. Hope this is not true and we have a full on comp again

See in the print media this morning an advertisement from the three Junior Leagues in Metro South Australia advertising for players for sides.

This despite the season being well and truly on the way. Know of a few sides that only are fielding around 14 players for a game

Appears kids either leaving the game or not interested in playing any more where as soccer is booming and Junior clubs expanding.

Not sure the reason why the spiral down thrust but one wonders if the new rules and not keeping scores etc bought in last season has anything to do with it.

More and more parents wrap their kids in cotton wool and will only let kids play soccer, and not footy, because it's seen as safer.

HTFU parents.

Our club used to regularly field all sides up to Under 16, this year we only have U6-U10, U13, U16.

Stories being bandied around re the U16 comp next year.

Hearing SANFL clubs will be running the U16 programme in line with the U18 programme meaning the U16 development squads will play Sat or Sun and school footy will move mid week.

Hopefully not the case as it will kill local club footy in the U16 comp for some clubs which in affect will have a huge affect on the U18 comp in the SAAFL

School footy being played mid-week is a good move.
Was always played mid-week in my school days.

Year 8-10 Tuesday Afternoon

Year 11-12 Thursday Afternoon
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you, Port Adelaide Sturt. & Norwood You don't beat Glenelg in Grand Finals and get away with it.

How could that possibly kill local club footy, surely the school competition has more impact than SANFL? Unless the league clubs are up to their usual reallocating their players to one club.

Would have a huge affect on the U16's, know of one club that currently has 9 players from their U15's playing for a SANFL U15 side, if that remains they drop nearly half of their club squad next year if the U16 comp moves to Sat/Sun

Few stories being bandied around local clubs in the north east by parents, have heard nothing from clubs or the Association to confirm or nothing to deny either

Locky, you should know better than listening to uninformed rumours.
- the SANFL have the program they and the AFL want
- private schools will not move to mid week, school footy is a very small part of their co curricular program and transport to and fro would be a huge issue if they moved mid week.
- the SANFL learnt long ago that college co curricular is very important to schools and work with schools in player development.
- the schools release their players / students to the elite development programs without question.

Tell me why anyone is going to change.

another story in the Advertiser this morning about a young lad from Westies as well.

Also of note our U15 side has about 6 or 7 missing from tonights (Friday game) as the school they attend will not let them play as they have to play for the school tomorrow  I appreciate school footy etc however some common ground has to be reached here

Doesn't school football only get played in Term 2 and the first half of Term 3?

Could the SANFL junior program utilise March/April, June long weekend, July school holidays and the second half of Term 3?

Not sure Tony. Since my post some negotiation has been done and the school has released some of the lads to play. Well done to both the Club and school for working this out =D>
