Such a shame there's no effects mic at either AO or AAMI so we never got to hear the crowd noise and siren etc. Would have been nice to have some atmosphere to the commentary.

JAS

Yeah, apparently the media box in the new stands at Adelaide Oval doesn't have an opening window that would have at least picked up some crowd noise. I think RPH might have an affects microphone that would have picked up that crowd noise, I'll make mention to them during the week to think about using it (if it is available and working) for future games at Adelaide Oval.

How did the new Commentry Crew in Neil Cross and Michael Maney go with their first call for RPH?

Neil Cross, sensational, Michael Maney good. A great addition to the RPH commentary team.

You prefer seamen to sailors ?
The new stand is magnificent !
The lights were amazing ....only "outshon" by Norwood's performance.
Good crowd 7000 of which 6500 went home happy.

Looks like the minor round just got a lot longer.
I haven't yet read anything to explain the result other than we were shite and they were good.
It's a gonna be a long year.

Sir Red of Norwood wrote:Language -Nerd interesting point, I actually found two SACA members(Sturt fans) who pronounce SANFL as Sann-ful rather than the more traditional and accepted in Adelaide sounding out of the letters S-A-N-F-L...I hate it when I occasionally tune into an AFL broadcast and the usually Victorian commentators refer to the Sannn-full and its WA counterpart, the Waffle. just grates, like hearing poor grammar such as, "Sailors from the HMAS Adelaide" and other basic errors in using English:(

Two syllables versus five. I have been saying it that way since before there was an AFL. I could argue that they copied me.

My wife used to teasingly call it the "snaffle" well before there was an AFL and I've always used "Sanf ' l" over the same period.
Two syllables wasa alwaysa easier, and I don't mind the Vics copying me.

A fella I was speaking with the other day was calling it SAN EFF ELL, first I'd ever heard it referred to that way.

not sure how long it will last but when was the last time we were top of the ladder, in any round. only early not getting ahead of myself. Real test at home next week against a genuin minor round contender.

Actually, if it's alright with everyone else on here, I'd rather spend the rest of this thread discussing the various ways we can pronounce the acronym "SANFL". I'd like to suggest "Sane-ful".
Let's save the football talk for when Sturt wins one. ;)

Michael Aish kicked 6 goals v Glenelg at Glenelg Oval, 13 June 1992.
