round 4 in the AFC qualfiying section top two go though to the wc, the 2 3rd place teams go into a playoff with each other with the winner of that playing a play off with the 5th place south american team

Group A
South Korea
Iran
Uzbekistan
Qatar
Lebanon

Group B
Australia
Japan
Iraq
Jordan
Oman
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

Great draw for the Socceroos, should easily get out of that group.
Happy to avoid Sth Korea and Iran.

I think we might struggle to finish higher than Japan, meaning we'll be fighting it out with Iraq to avoid 3rd place play-offs...

New Zealand drew with Solomon Islands 1-1 the other day which was pretty bad but today they lost 0-2 to New Caledonia.

Only a qualifier for Confederations Cup in reality.
They are already through to next stage of WC
Still piss funny though

Finished 0-0 with Oman, really difficult conditions so happy to grab an away point.
We are not going to go far playing duds like Archie Thompson though, there is a reason he has spent the majority of his career in the A-League and its because he is shite.

I didn't realise it was only a Confederations Cup qualifer, but that means New Caledonia or Tahiti will play against possibly Spain?

USA and Mexico both won today against minnows, Chicharito scored.

The Aussies will need an improved performance, and no Archie Thompson, if they are to take at least a point off Japan.

Australia very lucky. If that penalty was consistently paid there would be at least 10 goals a game from penalties. Very soft.

You're right. The send off of Milligan was very soft too. I reckon it evened out a bit. Especially given the card that wasn't given on the handball that would have seen the Nippon defender given a red.

Jordan 2-1 Australia
Terrible result for the Socceroos, very poor game.
With the Japanese virtually assured of qualification we are back in 3rd spot and need maximum points in Iraq next month to get back on track

Absolute joke that blokes such as Neill, Carney and Wilkshire continue to get easy starts.

Neill is the most overrated sportsmen in the WORLD!!!! Slow, lack skill and continues to chip pass the ball to teammates chests under pressure. His attempted clearance in the first half which went out for a corner was one of the laziest efforts from an experience player i have seen!

Note to Olger, Dads Army will not get us to Brazil!

Agreed, never been a fan of Neill. Has always been a no skilled plodder. Brazil is still 2 years away and im concerned about how these old guys form will be by then. Even if we get to Brazil we would be embarassed, would rather get some younger blood in now, they couldnt do any worse.
Cassio is only 2 years younger than Neill but would be a better option if they didnt want to blood a kid

Exactly worse part for me is we have had the last 3 friendly as a perfect time to give invaluable experience to some younger blokes and all we have done is hand extra caps to the 'old boys'

completly agree, however the younger generation haven't been bought in as they aren't good enough. in saying that carney, neill both really need replacing. Sporanovic is good enough to replace to neill and zolou, cassio, mckay, etc etc etc etc all better than carney...he has gotta be the worse socceroo to be so capped.
