Contractual agreement with ANZ stadium. It's rubbish! All our games should be at the scg!!!

But there is every chance it will be at the scg in a fortnight becaus NRL get preference

IIRC, the AFL has a contract with ANZ to play "x" amount of games there per year and if Sydney qualify a final each year, I believe until 2017?

THE SYDNEY Swans are anticipating a possible SCG home final, with the expected abundance of local teams in the NRL's playoffs potentially causing scheduling issues with the AFL.

The Swans have an agreement to play home finals at ANZ Stadium but with up to six Sydney NRL teams in the frame to be around in September, there could be clashes.

The SCG could emerge as the winner in the equation - as the only major venue without regular rugby league.

Regardless of the result between the Swans and Fremantle at ANZ Stadium on Saturday, the Swans will play the following final, one or two weeks later, in Sydney.

If there are multiple rugby league matches at ANZ Stadium during week one or two of the NRL finals series - which is one week behind the AFL - code clashes will likely occur.

Recalling the last finals match at the SCG - an epic 2005 semi-final won by the Swans by three points on the way to a drought-breaking premiership - Sydney Swans chief executive Andrew Ireland said there were no guarantees both of his club’s home finals would be held at the Olympic venue.

"As we head into finals this year, the first week of finals will clearly be played at ANZ Stadium," Ireland told the club's website.

"After that, obviously the NRL finals are on and there are more Sydney-based teams playing this year than last year, so there might well be a case where there is a clash."

ANZ Stadium surface set for surgery before qualifying final

Ireland said under the current deal, ANZ Stadium had first option on the Swans' finals.

That deal was being re-negotiated ahead of its expiration in 2016.

"There is no doubt that the SCG would like to have all of our games played there and ANZ Stadium obviously still want to host some of our games," Ireland said.

"When you come to the finals, it's really a separate arrangement, as the AFL has a direct arrangement with ANZ Stadium which includes that finals football will be played there."

A spokesperson from ANZ Stadium said in the advent of a clash, there would need to be negotiations between the codes, clubs and stadiums as to who played where.

The Swans’ secondary but larger AFL venue at ANZ Stadium has come in for sharp criticism of its surface following the Swans' loss to Richmond on Saturday.

Was better than average, not anymore.

He's done well to come back but he's just not mobile enough anymore. I reckon it's an 'injury' as opposed to an injury. They are going for Blix with his mobility and athleticism. The big worry is Walker as the second ruck. A real weakness there.

geelong win this week and they will play in the GF

Would like to know what has changed since the last time you played Sydney and why you would be confident of a 100+ point turn around at the same venue?

We won't beat the Swans but quite a lot has changed. The venue, we aren't coming off three straight six day breaks with the Swannies coming off a bye (ok, they've got the bye again but we will be coming off a seven day break) and in that match half our backline was out. If there is one team in the AFL you don't want to be understrength against in defence, it's Sydney.

We were knackered halfway through the first quarter in that game, there was no run at all. We were never going to win that and it showed the players believed it also. I've never seen Geelong look so flat in the first quarter and that includes during our nine straight losses under Ayres in 1999.

If we qualify for that match, we'll get closer than last time, but not 111 points closer.

Petrie and Brown will be covered by Lonergan and Taylor. Goldy a dinosaur so we'll rove his tips and when it rains, we'll win. If it doesn't rain, we'll win.

Just getting back to Booney's comment about Goldy before. In the Round 19 match, played under a roof at North's preffered venue Goldstein absolutely dominated Blix and Dawson Simpson. Goldy had 18 disposals, 3 marks and 30 hitouts. In the match stats North won the following stats -

Hit outs 41-31
Frees 24-19
Clearances 32-31
Inside 50 54-52
Contested ball 125-115

Yet Geelong won by 31 points. The key stat that Geelong did win was tackles. We were pathetic in this area against Hawthorn. If you don't tackle you don't win finals. If we out tackle North we win the game.

you could interchange 'ruckmen' with 'big men'. Consistent key forwards seem to also be a premium, or maybe it just seems like that to me because i follow the bullies and the last key forward we had was big Bazza after he was past it anyway...

Simple- move your final to Saturday and give the Hawks the Friday night final. It was fine in 2012.
