Good point, might be awkward at the table the morning after.

Heard plenty of mixed reviews about the St. Kilda Hotel so I went there yesterday.

There was limited seating so they asked if we minded being seated in the TAB area, we were fine with that.

They had limited tap beer choices so I chose a Bulmers Cider, the keg ran out half way through my opening pint.

I ordered the seafood basket to share then topped it up with 3 extra pieces of grilled fish.

It took almost an hour to arrive, that was after both of us asking at different times if we'd been overlooked or forgotten but then I seen a waitress walking around aimlessly with two plates of food which looked like ours, no one told her where we were seated.

Seafood basket was $33, the 3 pieces of fish was $26, the basket had 3 small prawns, 2 oyster2 kilpatrick, 2 scallops, 4 slices of S&P squid and a piece of fish.

All 4 pieces of fish were very dry and rubbery, we left two behind, there was only two bar staff who were juggling food orders, drink orders and TAB, they were well under the pump and the TAB line was getting 5 and 6 deep often for up to 10 minutes being Adelaide Cup Day.

Overall, I was pretty keen to go there but very disappointed considering our other suggestion was the Blacksmith Inn @ One Tree Hill, a mate owns it so he generally gives us a round and the food is great up there all the time, as is the atmosphere.

4/10 for all aspects. I was expecting so much more, a pub right on the ocean should have excellent seafood.

About a dozen of us hit the Lighthouse for tea Sat night .. Good meals, not amazing but far from terrible, staff were good (especially the couple I'd known that were ex-Seaton Hotel). Was a beautiful night and the Port is such a great place, so lucky to only live a few mins away. Food, Service, Price, Atmosphere I'm probably giving it about 6/10.

After that we descended on Korked, which is my kinda place. Small, intimate and fun probably due to Sandy the owner who is a deadset legend, highly recommend this place if you're in the area.

Spargo’s - Anzac Highway, Plympton

Scoopon deal for $57
Breakfast for 4 people (anything on the menu up to $21) & a coffee/juice each
Kids both had pancakes with mixed berry coulis & ice cream. Pancakes were pre made dry, gluggy. A few berries, no coulis. They got the 2 scoops of ice cream right. My wife had Eggs Royal. Poached with smoke salmon & hollandaise sauce. The hollandaise was cold, straight out the fridge cold. WTF?
I ordered a breakfast burger, eggs, bacon, cheese, tomato relish. It comes out on the small side, only one piece of bacon, no cheese but decided they’d put some lettuce on there. I f#cking hate lettuce and it wasn’t on the menu!
Having been before for dinner and rated it well, yesterday morning was a major disappointment.

3/10
