Re: World Cup 2015
I'm just putting it out there that my call of us getting near 400 may have been a tad optimistic

You'd have thought they'd start playing some defensive strokes at 6/100.

Re: World Cup 2015
Tournament has come at a good time for the kiwis who have put together a good squad & are in good form. My doubt surrounds their high risk style of play & how that will play out on the bigger grounds come finals time

Re: World Cup 2015
All things considered it almost feels like a more positive thing for the Aussies than NZ. I'd rather have the win, but for everything that went wrong, with players underdone (particularly Clarke) to get that close is a great result. A lot of poor shots, either selection or execution really symptomatic of 2 weeks without a game. But most critically I still don't get why Clarke opens with Johnson. Johnson bowls so much better, so often, bowling first change. He opens up and the control isn't there, the ball flies off a bit quicker and while he bowls some great deliveries, often even those just find an edge to the boundary. Then he came back, we needed wickets for not many runs and Johnson runs in bowling short. First 3 balls went 4 4 6. The first 2 Johnson beat Anderson but that plan is expensive. Even when the bowler beats the middle the chances of a wicket are low, runs high. With the pitch really offering help, bowl full and attack the stumps and the odd short ball. In the end, Johnson's overs were the big difference between the sides and I don't feel like it was his fault.

McCullum seems to be all about going at 200 or nothing. That style he'll score more single figure scores than 50s. Think he needs to bat longer more often for them to win. Williamson is class but there's not a lot of depth after those two. Bowling is very reliant on Boult/Southee. Boult played a great game and Southee got important wickets. Can imagine another day though if one struggles and the other doesn't get the wickets that the 4th and 5th bowlers will concede big runs.

Re: World Cup 2015
Six to win?? Clarkey should have gone up to the stumps and as a joke signalled, that the ball is going to bowled underarm!!
Might have caused a riot though

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Re: World Cup 2015
LOL England, absolutely destroyed by the Lankans.
Chased down 309 in under 48 overs for the loss of 1 wicket
Great to see Sangakkara amongst them again, love watching him bat.
Poms have no variation whatsoever, just right arm medium fast pacers, if Anderson and Broad dont get any swing they are just so predictable. Struggle to see their love for Finn, medium junk.
Poms need to beat the Bangers in Adelaide Wednesday or they can pack their bags, be hilarious if it was rained out
