Gibbs torn a pec. Had surgery today, out for the year.

Re: Carlton 2015
Watched Carlton's reserve side play the other week against Richmond's reserves. Not much depth there at Carlton , very very ordinary.
Heaps of Richmond players there helping out or just mingling with the crowd. Hardly saw a Carlton player.
They are in big trouble the Blues going to be a long way back for them.

Re: Carlton 2015
Yep we've given all our depth away in essence. Having Graham, Holman, Fields, Walsh running around in the A's means our depth is tested even more.
Safe to say the B's won't be having a run toward the finals any time soon.
Still not sure on Jaksch, Watson, D*ck, Viojo, Whiley, Boekhurst, Tutt, Jones. Watson seems to be stamped already cos he can't get a game at all.

Re: Carlton 2015
I'll preempt by saying this is not a troll.
Friday I went to the Hawthorn/Richmond match. You could see how both teams set up when the opposition had possession, clinical, routine-like. Whilst it wasn't a goalfest, both teams had purpose moving into attack for extended periods, ie there was some plan/direction.
Saturday night I saw North/Carlton live. North did everything I mentioned in the previous game - Carlton don't do any of it.
They barely have any structure or defensive plan and have no method whatsoever going forward. Barker was right in what he said post match - some blokes had given up & stopped running halfway through the third qtr.
Whoever gets the coaching gig at Princes Pk is going to need patience & a shit load of it.

Re: Carlton 2015
Who will Carlton put up for trade in the off season?
Yarran might get them a 3rd rounder; Henderson maybe a 2nd round pick.
The ones with really decent value - eg. Murphy - would be who they'd never let go of I suspect.

Yarran will get more than a third rounder

Unfortunately we will continue our recent efforts of putting good unrealised talent up to the trade table, get pillaged and draft in spuds. This is an ongoing situation that will infuriate me to the back teeth but I can't see how Yarran will stay.
Teams in the top of the ladder would scream for someone for his ability, yet unrealised.

Spargo, it's as blatant as the nose on everyone's face that we're in for a massive overhaul.
As you rightly say, we have no defensive plan, no forward plan, no skills to execute said non plans and no idea about run and carry from behind the ball. Every time Yarran tries, he runs into dead ends.
The list that Mick built is rubbish. Thanks Mick for putting us back 10-15 years AGAIN. We will need to appoint a coach for 4 years just to get anyone to apply. Seriously, they'd be queuing up for the Adelaide role, not ours. The next Carlton coach is on a hiding to nothing. I feel sorry for the poor bugger whoever that may be.
Seriously, our only hope is to find a Luke Beveridge. And the Western Bulldogs model has given our fans hope. Without it, we're stuffed.

Re: Carlton 2015
The "next in line" for a senior gig, Dew, Bolton, Lloyd etc would be nuts to take the Carlton job. Nuts.
There's zero chance of taking them to a premiership ( unless a Sheedy like reign unfolds ) and it's unlikely that there'd be any sort of success in the short ( 3 year ) to medium ( 5-7 years ) term and thus resigning yourself to be a one club coach as you'll have your papers stamped by the other clubs as a no go zone.
What's the money on Barker to get the job? Looks like Primus at Port all over again.

One could argue that at the time, Hinkley was on a hiding to nothing taking on the Port job. At the end of season 2012, we were considered to be in the predicament that Carlton find themselves in now.
Sometimes players under a new leader can find a new lease and exceed expectation. The question for Carlton will be- is there a coach in the Hinkley, Beveridge, Walsh (RIP) mould with the experience and leadership capable of turning their list around. The likely answer looking at the candidates is probably not. Bolton maybe?

Re: Carlton 2015
Really its just been a horrible season for Carlton. Players have been well below what they are capable due to tbe toxic culture that this season has brought.
I think a few players will be refreshed with a new coach and new season and will be better than what has been shown this season. I dont think they'll be world beaters but they be better than what they dished up.
The list is thin but there are some reasonable players to work with.

I don't know, Stuey Dew looks good for a premiership next year. As posted on Twitter by our very own Dogwatcher...
#AFL: Someone should get onto Stuey Dew quick, premiership window open (2000 @Ceeentrals, 04 @PAFC, 08 @HawthornFC, 12 @sydneyswans). 2016?

Re: Carlton 2015
500-600k a year, where do I sign up?
Would be plenty of good quality guys interested. Would be a minimum contract of say 2-3 years, the worse that can happen is you get sacked and they pay out your contract. Best case is you get them motivated and they start winning a few games and in 2 years time you can negotiate a far bigger pay cheque

Really you come here to SA always on a hiding to nothing. You have 2 teams in a small town and the team you coach gets a heck of a lot of media attention.
Carlton on the otber hand has an average list and really your going cop some beltings, so the expectations are largely reduced.
