Liked American Gangster but it was bloated because it tried to give equal screentime to two big stars.

Narrative would've been stronger focusing on Frank Lucas's story with Richie Roberts as a supporting character.

Thought it really took off in the last act when they worked together but felt it was a bit tacked on.

Would've made it more than the police procedural drama it is.

But can't deny it's a well-crafted fillum...

I liked American Gangster as well. Thought the first 2/3s dragged a bit, and the last 1/3 was a bit rushed, though.

Although i don't watch many movies, i have still managed to put together a bit of a list.

Very good movies, that i can watch over & over & over again:

Rocky 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6
Rambo 1, 2, 3 & 4

These are Some other movies i enjoy but i couldn't watch them all the time, they are:

Freddy got Fingered
Blades of Glory
The Longest Yard
40 Year old Virgin

There is more but i can't remember at the moment

The most recent movie i have viewed, I Am Legend, would have to be the most over-rated movie i have seen this year.

Finally watched Hotel Rwanda the other day.

An incredible story, amazing film. Not exactly uplifiting movie you'd show your wife and kids though.

Heartbreak Kid, Ben Stiller's, is a cracker of a show.
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

Saw Juno last night, definitely a good movie, maybe a little removed from the typical Hollywood comedy and maybe that's also why I enjoyed it.

Not a new movie, but finally got around to seeing the Usual Suspects this week. Awesome movie, watched it again and picked up so much the second time around!

The reason I changed from Borat, when i first picked it up he was an obscure character doing 4 minute sketches (perhaps the funniest stuff ever seen) in a cult tv show which was late at night on ABC..

Then he was bloody everywhere, even I got sick of the bandwaggoners.

Anyways, watched "Ray" re Ray Charles. Good film, fantastic music, fantastic acting (worthy of the academy award for Jamie Fox), fairly thin story. I give it 7.5 out of 10.
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

Saw it last night and agree that it was good ... Not sure exactly where I sit on just how good it was as I keep thinking about parts of today, which usually indicates a quality film.

Great Australian films

"West" and "Noise" were both awsome they should be in the new release section at your video shop!

someone on here said that they thought Hollywood was running out of ideas and that is a fair call but you just have to look elsewhere then. Come on give em a go!

Also thought "Black Sheep" a New Zearland mock Horror was well done.
Superman: Well, you see, I, uh, I sort of have a problem seeing through lead.

Thanks Troy hadn't heard of that one but will look out for it. Just a shame noone seems to learn from it judging by what seems to be kicking off in Kenya at the moment. Bill Clinton was interviewed here a couple of years back and said his biggest regret was not acting on Rwanda sooner...he reckoned he might have saved around a quarter of a million lives if he had.

There has been a spate of African themed films recently. Most of them are quite shocking, and I agree with the sentiment that we are quite lucky not to have been born there.

Yuri Orlav Arms Dealer: Nicholas Cage: Based on a true story, glimpses of the world within which this cretin makes his living are not for the faint of heart.
The Constant Gardener: Ralph Fiennes: Fictitious story about the crule reality of medical testing in Africa.
Hotel Rawanda: Schindler's list of Rawanda? Based on a true story, the weight of death that this film portrays would be overwhelming if shown too explicitly, but I thought the film handled it well without blunting its message. How could such a thing have happened while the rest of us stood by?
Shooting Dogs: John Hurt. Based on a true story. Story of a school under the protection of the U.N during "the massacre". As in Hotel Rawanda (and in real life) the U.N do not stay for the duration, watch for the ending. Meets many of the points of Hotel Rawanda, I could find no inconsistencies between the two films. Once again, how could we have just stood by?
Totsi: South African film about a juvenile thug confronted with the responsibilty of caring for the infant of one of his victims. Shot on location, interesting look at people's lifestyles.
Last King of Scotland Forrest Whitaker: Based on a true story. The frailty/bravery of the Scottish bloke contrasted against Idi Amin makes for quite an intense session.
Blood Diamond Leonardo DiCaprio: Fictitious story set within a factual event. Not quite as shocking as Shooting Dogs/Hotel Rawanda but a good film about another conflict.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

There Will Be Blood

Not quite the masterpiece P.T. Anderson is so desperate to make but has moments of pure genius.

Besides arguably the worst score in cinema history, my only other gripe is that it goes one scene too long.

Daniel Day-Lewis proves once again he is the greatest actor of his generation.

Keira Knightley in that green dress. Have a think about that again. Also, the long shot of her when she gets out of the duck pond
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.

Will agree with an above post that 'Definitely, Maybe' is a great movie, well, maybe, definitely, maybe. Heck.. definitely is a great movie, no 'maybe's' about it!
My all-time favourite movies though are: The Green Mile; The Shawshank Redemption; and Big. Oh, and the 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007 SANFL Grand Finals make good viewing!
A Bulldog in winter; a WTDCC Eagle and OICC Wolf in Summer!
