Young Ellie Simmonds takes Gold for GB in the women's 100m freestyle. Knocks around 3 seconds of the British record and she's only 13 years old. Youngest ever Paralympic medal winner for the UK. Don't know the politically correct term for her disability nowadays so apologies if mine is considered offensive (it's not meant to be) she is a dwarf.
Was lovely watching her being interviewed...don't think I've seen anyone so happy...laughing and crying at the same time. At this rate she'll be a great choice for us in 2012.

Our very young lass has done it again in the 400m and got her 2nd Gold and broken the WR by about 7 seconds I think.

How good is this wheelchair rugby? Watched all Aussie games bar one and must say its quite good to watch. Very addictive. Pity they don't play it on tv other than the paralympics
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Re: Para-lympics
What is Goalball?
Goalball is a sport that was devised in Europe. It is the only team sport played at the Paralympic level by vision impaired people; and until recently internationally, cricket held its inaugural world cup last year.
Goalball is a three-on-three competition sport played on indoors primarily by blind and vision impaired athletes. Games are of two ten minute halves, and are competitive and exciting to watch. Two teams play at each end of the 18x9 metre court (the same court size as a volley ball court). There are goals at both ends of the court covering the complete 9 metres in width and they are 1.3 metres high. Players are blindfolded with a blackened out ski masks to make the game fair, and to prevent any advantage to players with some sight.
The object is to throw the 1.25kg ball past the opposing team and into their goal. But, now you're probably asking yourself, "how do the players know where the ball is if they're blind and blindfolded?"
The answer is that the ball has bells inside that allow the players to hear it. When they hear the ball coming towards them, they dive, or lunge sideways, towards it to block and stop it with their body, arms and legs. If all three players miss the ball or if it bounces over them and it goes past the goal line, it is a goal. The team with the most goals wins the game. There are usually several games in a typical tournament. There is string taped to the court floor on playing lines in the Team Areas, that the players use to orient themselves to where they are on the court.

MC if you'd like to see more you might find it here...
http://player26.narrowstep.tv/assets/pl ... layer.html
It an online tv channel that specializes in para sports (not just during Paralympics). Haven't signed up myself but I found the link to it on the official Beijing site so I assume it's genuine. I believe it's free...you just need to register.
If you click on 'Summer Sports' near the bottom you can then scroll across the list and find wheelchair rugby.
A little bit of trivia that the BBC's pundit mentioned...the reason for so many wheel changes during the games....apparently your average car has a tyre pressure of around 30psi (don't own one so can't say if that's right) their wheelchair tyres have anything up to around 200psi...no wonder they go bang so often

Re: Para-lympics
Kadina football club had a fundraisers night for Grace Bowman Saturday night. Raised 14,000 to help get her horse Rolly to London and back. Well done to the Kadina, Moonta and Wallaroo sporting clubs that chipped in. Good luck Grace.
