Also - Trimble played two ODIs, one in Perth, one in Adelaide I think. Son of Sam Trimble, regarded by many of his era as the best Australian cricketer never to play for Australia.
I was spewing last night, whenever the classic world series matches come on fox I always watch them, I've been waiting to re-live the Trimble stint, it was on last night and I missed the Kiwi batting innings, it was 85/86 in Perth.

harsh, harsh man Booney!!!
He is only 26. A long future ahead IMO. Will play a fair bit in the future, especially if we continue to have these injuries.
Plus the next test is at his home ground, and with the Hilf unlikely to play, and Siddles hamstring a 50/50 chance, he could well play next test
Sorry Ck. Siding with Booney on this one. I never like to say anything against people who have tried & done their best, but young McKay was pedestrian at best last test, lacking any penetration. If the Windies were not troubled by him, woe & behold any of the better test playing nations facing him!

Yeah I have to agree.... Seemed out of depth and 'just' a medium pacer.... although I do believe that if someone has the ability to keep the ball at a good length and get sideways movement both ways like McGrath did, despite the pace they deliver at then they have a chance...
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

IMO Tim Paine will play alot of test cricket for Australia and will be the test wicketkeeper after Brad Haddin retires. Not sure about Smith though, he's still very young.

Agreed. I think he is absolute carp at test level. He goes well in 1 day cricket but in the longer form he is useless IMO.

Personally, I do not think Smith has "what it takes," but I think he will get (was going to say earn, but remembered he's a NSW) an extended run, based on potential...

Agreed MP, I also think he'll get an extended run because of his potential and the fact he's from NSW/. His cause is also helped by the countries lack of decent spin bowlers at this point in time.
