Can anyone explain the purpose of that review? If it's a behind either way then why did they review it?

The blind umpire couldn't tell if it was a goal.

One can only assume they reviewed the first one to see if it was a goal
Outside of that they are just making it up

Much like that last Soligo free kick

Should have been a Carlton free. He was under no pressure and just handballed it over the line

The out of bounds free for insufficient attempt against Nick Haynes was worse
The AFL will have to explain that one during the week surely

Not saying I agree but that’s the rule they announced this week. Instead of just trying to touch the ball you have to attempt to keep it in play

Also video review at the boundary line is not required

Yeah I heard them say the rule but he had no chance of keeping it in.
They reviewed 3 other out of bounds but didn’t review that.
Surely they can review if an umpire has stuffed up too.
I’ve just watched it again and he had zero chance of keeping it in

The conditions were terrible but last nights umpiring was as bad as I’ve seen for a long time.

It was a shocking decision the insufficient attempt.

He could have kept it in by knocking it back into play to his crows opponent and then had a goal scored against.
Just make it last touch which its going to get too by june long weekend

Only the AFL could bring in a rule to eliminate a grey area (out of bounds/insufficient intent) and introduce more grey rules surrounding it to make it more difficult to umpire and even more so to watch.

They missed so many both ways, both Hollands are talentless snipers who hit and run because they offer nothing else. Umpires watched and did nothing.

Ok Genuine question.

Surely people don't believe or think an umpire purposely goes on the field with the intent to cheat?

I personally don’t agree with the bias, play the ball and get protected, but it doesn’t help when free kick differentials are announced this week and the bottom 6 clubs are non Victorian

You could be forgiven for thinking it was the 90’s given the amount of Crow throws last night.
The Rachele flick pass in the last quarter was elite.
He didn’t even try to disguise it but not one of the umps saw it

No, the incompetence is indiscriminate.

Some of the frees paid to both forwards were ridiculous especially in the last quarter.
