Just saw the 19s squad released, Sturt and kensi dominate. interesting TTG have 0 based on they won the flag and lost a semi in the 2s?? Brazell their only genuine kid coming through it seems, they have a young leggy too? Footy smart might have some answers on why no TTG talent is in the 19s, and I see some 3rd grade cricketers made it.

.

Think you'll find a lot of TTG's talent will feature in the U17's.... Brazell, Worden, Pannell and Ross are all players who will feature in the 17's system and have had 2 season at senior level (some of them 3!)

What is happening in the Northern, North Eastern and Southern Suburbs of Adelaide, surely we can expect more players coming through to First Class Cricket in this state than is currently happening. Apart from Travis Head and Jake Lehmann, where are the other players from what is a massive area??
Northern Districts have provided some quality players over the years however at the moment it is seriously concerning as to what is happening - are there any players in their country zone who need to be looked at?

TTG seem to be doing the best and they have a number of players in their first grade who came from other clubs, Gatting , Hutchinson, Patrick Page together with Somerfield who came out of Glenelg's country zone in Mount Gambier?

They have no players in the 19 squad and Brazell who is looking like a first grader and possibly Worden in time will be part of the 17 group. ET have King in the 17 squad and a couple in the 19 squad, ND have zero in the 19 squad and this must be of a major concern to everybody in cricket in this state when we look back to some of the quality produced there in the past. Southerns is a massive area and have no-one in the 19 squad - these 2 clubs in particular are seriously concerning from a development perspective in this state.

Surely there are some players in these clubs country zones who need to be looked at, is it time for a radical rethink of what is happening in the development of young players in country SA , looking at the 19 squad apart from Pointon who is a West Torrens country development player where are the country players in the 19 squad ?

To have 17 players in the Under 19 squad from 3 clubs (Kensington,Sturt and West Torrens) is a major concern for cricket in this state - even more concerning is the lack of representation from country South Australia and in particular the Northern and Southern District Clubs. To have a total of 3 players from 6 clubs in the 19 squad is a major concern for grade cricket, 3 clubs have no representation and 3 have only 1 each.

The other major concern is Prospect Cricket Club which has 1 player in the 19 squad, for a club who has finished bottom in first grade 7 times in 10 years!! - where are their players coming from to improve performances?

Cricket is an expensive game - hence the leafy and beachside suburbs do ok in the juniors. Will only become more exclusive with more cricket on pay tv. Reportedly CA could've had ALL international cricket plus Shield Final on free to air Ch 10 for not much less than the 7/Foxtel bid. Maybe a move they'll regret in the future.

Yes cricket is an expensive game, however sometimes you need to look at the junior program set up (and people in them) and also the work some clubs do in there country zone.

Several clubs have country zones within 90 minutes of them yet the culture dictates if the better players from their zone are willing to travel.

Believe the PT A junior report at the last GCC was not received overly well. Other clubs felt it was the same old same old lip service and PtA saying it is all SACA's fault!
How long before they take some responsibility :-k , maybe a change at the top would expedite things.

Would think that Hilyard would get Uni's if Borgas gone
I am hearing ET considering an English coach and no it's not "2 clubs" in one season

Any ATCA coaches out there looking to get to back into PC?

Goodwood new coach from the Buffs?

TH - interview happening next week, the problem TTG face is much deeper than that, replacing Sleepy will be like trying to find 3 people to do the various jobs around the club. There is a possible out, but depends on employment and a return to SA for this gentleman. It is not easy finding a grade coach, to do the job properly he needs several people behind him to assist. I always wondered the value of the coaches being there all day Saturday and Sunday where required, surely a good captain calls the shots and then a coach can spend more time during the week getting an in depth of what happened and working on the issues. I know Weaver and the senior boys call the shots at TTG, despite the carrying on from the sidelines.

With the junior structure, it would be nice to have more 18, 19 year olds pushing into A grade in our club, but there are quite a number of talented juniors pushing up through our grades. Brazell, Worden, Panell, Ross, Dylan Holiday, Sinclair pending next knee op, Dawson, Oakley, Hermann, Gregorev and couple others from 16's and 14's that are being pushed above their age to ensure they are tested. From experience you cannot, even for 1 year rest on your junior program, it will cost you down the track.

The Pt Adel junior issue will take years to rebuild and you need a character similar to Mick Weatherald at Sturt to lead it and have the patience to follow it through, I don't think Port have found that person, mind you neither have most clubs, probably lucky the money hasn't dried up at the top otherwise a return to the early 2000's would be very likely.

TM - It starts at club level and has to start from the top there, if people in those places are not willing to listen and continue to make excuses as an easy out, then are they the right person(s) to drive the direction of the club :-k

Good luck with the interview process AB.

If they had started there rebuild years ago when it was first raised then would they still be in their current position  . I think the 16 Red premiership only a few seasons ago allowed some people to rest on their laurels and as you pointed out it only takes 1 season to put you back

Two points. I think it’s foolish to listen to the GCC and there recommendations. They are nothing but a bunch of self indulged fossils who everytime they hold a meeting put this state of cricket back 20 years. Would be careful what I listened to with them. Hence why SACA want to take over grade cricket completely.
Secondly I think every club is judged on there seniors and only there A’s for that matter. As long as there are kids coming through then it’s all good. You only need 4 good kids not 44 to keep ham ing success as long as the 4 are stars.
Don’t worry about Port or Northerns but pray for Prospect.

Apparently their latest effort is to try to get rid of the first class ball at A Grade level

Hope it gets defeated.

Be interesting to see what players of clubs think about the proposed Friday 20/20 games. IMO the draft draw looks good as it provides some variety and only a couple of Sundays prior to Christmas.
