Re: AFL Season 2023
Wow, what a run into finals we're having.
5 weeks ago Fremantle were 7 & 7.
4 weeks ago Crows played Essendon for 7th v 8th. Now they're 12th & 13th. GWS Carlton, Geelong, Sydney & Richmond were all but written off for the year.
3 weeks ago Port were almost certain of top 2 & Melbourne may slip out of the top 4
2 weeks ago Geelong were looking like they might get a top 4 berth & St Kilda & Bulldogs were looking shaky to make the 8.
Going to be an interesting last 4 rounds

Re: AFL Season 2023
WESTERN Bulldogs veteran Josh Bruce will require a second knee reconstruction in the space of two years after rupturing his right anterior cruciate ligament in Saturday's loss to Greater Western Sydney at Mars Stadium.
Scans on Monday morning confirmed the club's worst fears as well as meniscus damage, after the 31-year-old landed awkwardly in the third quarter and was helped off the ground in Ballarat.
Bruce tore the ACL in his left knee against Essendon in round 21, 2021, at a time when he was coming second in the Coleman Medal

Yes there has been the whole potential 3 strike thing etc but i reckon he has been a pretty good role model for people over the years alongside being one of the greats (in legitimate terms) of the game.
The game is poorer for his retirement.

Re: AFL Season 2023
I didn't like that we got him, cause I thought it was too much and also he played for the Hawks. How quickly did he change my opinion of him. Now i am sad that hes done. Worth every single cent the club paid him. Basically carried us to two grand finals and gave so much enjoyment to so many. I don't think there will be anyone like him again. Champion!

Re: AFL Season 2023
One of the greats.
How many flags would hawthorn have won had he stayed?
Did it, for the most part, with class on and off the field.
Ask any backman or coach, who is the most dangerous forward over his time and it would be him by a stretch. Kennedy would be second.
Enjoy retirement Bud.

Things we saw Buddy achieve during his entire career:
354 games
4 Coleman Medals
8 All-Australian jackets
2 Premierships
2 GOTYs
1,066 goals.
Things we did not see during Buddy’s entire career:
Essendon winning a final.

John Howard was still Prime Minister when Buddy Franklin made his AFL debut ( R1, 2005).
There were seven different Prime Minister's during Franklin's AFL career (Howard, Kevin Rudd, Julia Gillard, Rudd x2, Tony Abbott, Malcolm Turnbull, Scott Morrison, Anthony Albanese).

Elijah Tsatas to make his debut on Saturday
Ignoring new clubs, this is the first time since Clinton King (SYD in 1996) that a player has made their V/@AFL debut with a club that has been winless in finals in their lifetime.
