HFL Division 2 (Country)
Re: 2008 Hills Country
I have heard from the grape vine as well that Haydn Reid is out for the Season with a knee injury. Can anyone confirm. As The tips for the week.
Kersbrook Vs Nairne - Kersbrook by a Goal
Gumeracha Vs Maccy - Gumeracha by a Point
Kangy Vs Callington - Kangy by 10 goals (depending on who plays)
Meadows Vs Echunga (Sunday Game) - Echunga by 5 Goals will be close (Echunga hasn't won a Sunday game in a while).

Re: 2008 Hills Country
Saw him go down early in the first quarter and then later when he came back on heavly strapped. ( By the way he hobbled off )Would say he's done the ligament in your knee that your still able to walk around on without an opp. Just need to if your continuing to play sport.

Just watch out Kangys might take the step next year since there junior numbers are increasing.
Kangies left the Southern League because they weren't in div 2 anymore and weren't the best so they left for Hills div 2 to be a big fish in a small pond again. I would be surprised if they wanted to go up to a higher grade.
Kangarilla, ideally wanted to go straight to central division. This was knocked back, which was probably a good thing. They will go up if given the opportunity, if they can get their juniors sorted. The club has been working very hard to make this happen. Its a credit that they now have senior colts, as a few years ago this nearly looked impossible.
Re: 2008 Hills Country
If anyone can be regarded as wanting to be a big fish in a small pond it would have to be meadows.
I would of thought they would of been a better option to move up to central than Birdwood. Why didnt they? Their Juniors are some of the best going around, their seniors are strong.

unfortunately some of the main movers at Meadows aren't progressive and are happy to stay in the pack. they also are not prepared to let progressive people take over the reigns and move the club forward. Thats the only reason they lost the boy's to Onka's because last years vote to nominate for Div 1 was defeated and a few wanted to give Div 1 a shot.

Hayden Reid Big Loss for Meadows.....no one wants to see blokes snap ACLs.
Gumeracha had barely a dozen out on the track last night. Have all the West Croydon recruits abandoned ship?

Thats dissapointing, because I think they would of made more of a go of it than Birdwood, and ultimately would reflect better on the Country league.

Brad Dubois ( B&F winner at meadows last year) Josh Russell ( has been in the best players twice already for Onkas), Sam Russell ( was away in london last year back but is a very handy footballer)

Oh okay, i've heard of Brad Dubois a few times but never new he was a decent player. He used to have a hot missus. I thought he was pretty friendly with the clan at Meadows. Goes to show people can get sick of playing in Country Div

He was very keen for Meadows to push into div 1 and when vote didnt go that way he made a decision to join Onkas, he had played there before for a season or two.

Re: 2008 Hills Country
Meadows would have kept those guy's and gained a few other handy players from Country div and great southern that are friendly with the Meadows boy's. this was Meadows chance and some with small minds arranged that the vote would be defeated. All but a couple of players voted to go up, and the juniors were very keen to give it a go. It was a sad night for the club.

I hope they play hardball.... I am sick of players who come to clubs with their hand out for $$ and then when the going gets tough they want to leave... If players dont do the research in the first place bad fn luck... sit out the year!!

He is prepared to sit out the year if it comes to it rather than go back there. Speaks volumes of the new 'coach'.

if you sign a contract stay to your word, if no contract should be nothing to hold him. gota remember the coach he came to play for has left as well. no-one should be made to miss footy if not under any contract

Re: 2008 Hills Country
R. Reid listed in line-up to play against Ehunga A's. If that's true would be a handy inclusion, delivery into forward line would be first class.
