Went along and watched a little of the South v Tanunda game. South looked like they have improved
with a couple of handy forwards, Tanunda did look to have a few out.
What was the end result?
Has anyone got more of an opinion on the game as I only saw a quarter or two?

Good, hard game of footy with South getting up by a goal in the end.
Was a good hit out for both sides, both had players missing but the tackling and pressure was good all day.
Mussolino didnt do a great deal but showed glimpses of class and will get better, Lawry was in good form and great to see him not showing any signs of the knee injury.
All in all just a trial but plenty of positives for both sides

Ango hosted the riverland premiers of last year in Loxton North. After a even first quarter the Ango boys ran away with the game and won by about 10 goals or so which was also the margin in the ressies. Ango did have a few players out also I witnessed captain Doecke taking the field for the first half of the ressies, apparently he had a wedding to attend and wanted a run today. Good to see that he was happy to put his hand up and play in the 2s.

Kapunda beat Berri under lights at Berri by 7 or 8 goals. Should have won by a lot more, but eased off. A few regular A graders out, but some new faces so good signs for Bombers.
BLG doing well against Riverland teams in trials - is our league stronger or don't they take it seriously up there till the real games? I think I know what their answer will be

Freeling also beat Barmera by 4 goals.
Riverland league not what it was some 10-15 years ago.

All trial games are a pinch of salt but I reckon your right Mahomad, Riverland slightly behind BLG nowadays but still competitive I would have thought. Riverland has improved over last 5 years, as 5 years ago was quite weak IMO but Riverland was definitely stronger 15 years ago but not sure if its ever been stronger than BLG.

I doubt the Riverland has been stronger than the BL&G at any time in its 25 year history.
I played in a trial against Ango about four seasons ago and they beat us by about the same margin as they beat North by yesterday.
North will have a new side this season, given some influential departures and there'd still be a settling in situation there. There were also a couple missing for a wedding from what I can gather.
But I believe any BL&G side that didn't beat a Riverland side would be in for a tough season.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Don't know if he played yesterday, but played a few weeks ago against an RMFL side.

I hear Nuri looked good against Waikerie yesterday, their bigger bodys dominated. I think they got up by 20 points in the end

tyler was in streaky for a wedding but skipped it to play for wirrulla on saturday. will pull the boots on for barmera this season. was good to see the b train at full steam again guiding his hawks to a comfortable 15 goal win.

Coach Hadden's charges looked to be building for their first game in round 2.
Made fairly lite work of Loxton North.
New recruits in Ruwolt and Fosdike look like they will be more than serviceable.
Back line looks to be rock solid with old heads General Bennett and Kurtz.
Kids looking good for Coach Hadden to build future with.
Rabbit Rathjen looking to be the air to the throne when Doecke finally gets taken out in a wooden box.
Write the panthers off at your own peril.

Barossa District v South Gawler - No form to go by but from the talk on this site this should be a cracking game. Both sides have a number of inclusions to there list. Barossa in a tight one.
Tanunda v Willaston - The best side in country football over the past 3-4 years will win and win well.
Gawler Central v Freeling - Freeling to win by 10 goals
Nuriootpa v Kapunda - If Mckenzie play's kapunda to get first use and win well.

Barossa v South - The Bulldogs should win this game, midfield may be the difference. Doggies by 27 points.
GC v Freeling - Freeling by 5 goals
Kapunda v Nuriootpa - Kapunda in a close one, by 15 points.
Tanunda v Willaston - The grand final rematch should be a thriller, Tanunda to see if they are still the same force. Donnybrooks to cause an early upset by 10 points.

this weeks games

Bar v South-game played at Lyndoch I think so no real home ground advantage-South have recruited well and if Musolino's clearance comes in South by 3 goals
Freeling v Centrals-big test for Freeling-Centrals missing plenty from last year but will still be competetive-freeling by 2 goals
Nuri V Kapunda- kapunda to win well by 6 goals
Tan V Willaston-should be a cracker of a game and much closer than last years GF-Willaston have improved and tanunda have lost some good players but they are still the best team in country footy and will win by 8 goals(Wells goes down with injury they come back to the field)

Massive week of games and should be a indication of what is to come in 2012.
Will be some great games with all teams still capable of winning the big games.Dont write of Angaston

Same, except for a Tanunda win.

what 2 big name recruits have walked out on Nuri? My word is they have had 7 clubs in 7 years but might now be 8 in 7 years if the info is right. And they will be a big loss to the Tigers

With that many clubs in as many years would have to be Jarrod and Ryan Byrnes
