Re: SAAFL Division 6 2013
Looks like Ingle farm will be in this grade again! Word around the traps is that TTG are staying down and IF staying in 6. Is this the right thing for IF?
Even recruits advertising the mail that IF are staying in 6.

Personally from a club perspective, in the best interest of the club, Ingle Farm need to go to div 7.
Struggled in div 6 for a number of years now, and granted last season we were competitive and our best matched the top sides, but fact remains we still finished in the bottom 2, and we have a lot of young kids coming through that still need some time to develop. Not only that but after a long period for the Farmers without success, the club really needs to get that winning feeling back and string together consistent performances and win games of footy - not saying div 7 would be a walk in the park, but a better opportunity to obtain those goals.

Having said that, that is my personal opinion, and doesn't neccessarily reflect that of the rest of the club..

And if the rest of the club are already saying they want to stay in 6?

Well thats out of my control, and something the committee would have to look at very seriously and weigh up the benefits of staying up compared and the possible long term consequences if they were to have a below standard season.
Given a couple lives already to stay up, if they were given another the pressure and scrutiny to be successful would no doubt be magnified.
People at the club need to look at the situation from every possible perspective and be unbiased and unselfish in their thought process

I agree PG and I reckon many people would aswell, you guys have to go down to Div 7. As you said, it's in the best interest of the club to be going down to Div 7.

That will also apply to staying in div 7 if a decision needs to be made...
At the end of the day all SAAFL clubs play to win and go up grades as high as you can. Why would you stay in div 7 when you can go to div 6 and be closer to the top divisions. Success is not guareenteed in div 7 and a club could get stuck there for more than 1 year if the thought process was to go down and have success and come straight back up..IF were 1 win from staying up and were on 8 points (more than a lot of clubs get relegated on). If the coaching group can bring the improvement promised we would be more than competitive next season.
Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts....

Valid points, i'm in no way suggesting that going down to 7 would guarantee instant success, nor do I believe it would only be a one year trip.
I have no doubts the squad would be extremely competitive in 6 if they played there, as long as players stayed fit and injuries didn't take their toll. As I said, last year our best was as good as anyones, and we have added some much needed depth to the squad in the off season.
However if IF were to stay in 6 and have a disappointing season, what would the repercussions be for the future on the club?

Enough of this anyway, all this Farmers talk is taking away from Morell and Yank Man filling page after page of how amazing Mitchell Park are and how dominant they will be this year!

Players play to play in premierships no matter what grade; they dont care about being competitive in Div6 compared to a premiership or finals footy in Div 7
If you are winning games and play finals footy you generally have more people watch and the club makes more money; very few people go and watch a team get beaten each week
The real difference between Div 6 & 7 is generally the calibre of player you are trying to recruit as some players wont play that low

Haven't even started pre-season!
EDIT - But I have now been reliably informed that we are having hit outs against Aldinga and Christies Beach
