Lions only fielded 9 guys from their elim final loss last year. It was a 38c friday night trial match 1hr from home what would you expect. A majority of the players had never came up against a grade football before and it showed.
Having said that Kilburn were a pretty good side had plenty of size about them and decent runners.

Had an aboriginal fella on the ball who was an absolute gun ...... Quite a few talls although we fielded 3 guys above 6 foot so may have been decieving..

Good luck with that, should be a good game if they've cleaned the side up

Would that have been Adrian Wilson? (Ex Centrals/Essendon)
Also, does anyone know where Andrew Lindsay is playing? Have heard Kilburn and Salisbury...

Andrew Lindsy, aka Doobie, played for E/Park last year after having a year off with a broken arm.
Not bad footballer but hell he can run, was asked to try out for the state athletics team i beleive.
Flashy player, likes to show the ball but its also his weakness, sometimes holds onto the ball to long 50% of the time gets caught, the other 50% breaks tackle but delivery ordinary.
He will cause havoc to opposition teams................to quick.

Did I hear right that Kilburn fielded 19 players for most of Friday nights trial?

Where did you hear that from bass player? They probably did look like they had an extra player as the fitness of Kilburn was a bit better than the Lions, also the Lions were under manned according to lion heart.

Just go to http://www.metisc.com.au/iscoresn/index.cfm?db=34&foid=1 then click SAAFL then Australian Rules Football then 2008 Premiership Season then Div 3 or Div 3 Reserves...they only have the first round up though.

Re: SAAFL Div 3 2008
each quarter was 20 minutes with a break halfway
so it became 8 quarters of 10 minutes
i was standing by the kilburn huddle at 3/4 time and the coach took players off and brought some on
halfway through the 10 minutes a opposition spectator came down to the bench and said that kilburn had 19 on
the kilburn coach said well you put another one on then at which the lions did
as it turned out one kilburn player came off with a corky
so really yes kilburn had 19 for say 5 minutes and the lions had 19 for 5 minutes
it was a trial and at that stage kilburn were plenty up anyway so it didnt matter one bit
just on the trial i personally thought, the lions played a short game high on possesion and kilburn were long and direct
think both clubs would have been happy with the run
so it became 8 quarters of 10 minutes

I heard it from someone who went down to watch but as footballfollower clarified, it was only for 5 mins and both teams did it. The score line didn't suprise me at all. With 11 or 12 of the lions regular A graders missing it was bound to happen. Hopefully they can give it a better go in Saturdays trial (if it goes ahead in 40 degree heat)

Re: SAAFL Div 3 2008
by all accounts the lions had at least 9 out of last years side they were saying
kilburn fielded only 3 from last years side that played A grade and 2 others were on the interchange
the rest were all new players

Yeh if Kilburn played their side from last year they would of got absolutely smashed.
Thats why they need 21 new ones!
