5 wickets for Boult, he's bowled really well this evening.

Starc coming out to bat WTF?! Hope he doesn't do anymore damage to his foot.

Good match by Hazelwood. Whilst conditions were favourable, he looked to be the guy who'll benefit from Johnson's retirement. He seemed to relish the freedom & opportunity to be more attacking as opposed to fulfilling the stock bowler role. Hopefully Siddle's back isn't too bad otherwise our bowling depth will definitely be tested.

Whilst the whole event can only be deemed a raging success and I thoroughly enjoyed my day there on Friday, does anyone else feel a Test that's over in less than three days with no side making 250 be considered a success for the game itself? I mean, pink ball, under lights etc?

This Test was run to be the testing ground for this format to make changes to "save Test cricket" around the world ( remember it wasn't for Adelaide as we show up regardless ) and I'm not sure a 3 day game will really inspire other nations to take the format and run with it.

It might be a good thing, Adelaide might be the one and only place to hold them. That's great for us!

I loved it and am certain in time players will score hundreds v pink ball. NSW were about 1/300 v SA in their second dig.

The highest ever attendance for a non Ashes test. It was a great contest and I think it's here at least in Adelaide to stay.

Now the push should be for the test match to be moved to coincide with Australia Day

Can almost guarantee that because it was successful, the eastern states will try and steal it... Its what they always do.

Brisbane are really keen with rumours the QLD government kicking in a bit to get it. Doesn't the rain always come in around tea time up there at that time of year though?
The new bidding process will be very interesting

The Australian summer of Test Matches is usually done and dusted after the Sydney Test in early January, so wishful thinking. And in the old days of the Australia Day Test Match or the back-to-back-to-back one dayers - the success of the event was based on the Australia Day public holiday always being observed on the Monday following 26 January unless of course 26 January was a Monday. As silly as it may seen now, when 26 January was a Tuesday, the holiday was Monday 1 February even though it may have been more logical to observe it the day before.

It was only about 15 to 20 years ago that the Australia Day public holiday in SA and several other states reverted to being observed on 26 January unless it falls on a weekend and then the holiday is the Monday.

Australia Day next year is a Tuesday so working a Test Match around that date wouldn't necessarily work anyway and wouldn't compare favourably with the proven formula of a Friday to Tuesday Test Match.

Agreed with that but he probably still would have won if he had reviewed the lbw appeal against Shaun Marsh when he was on 14. It pitched on leg stump and would have taken leg stump. Maybe the umpire and McCullum thought that Marsh hit the ball when he clearly hit his boot.
Then about 2 overs later he reviewed a decision against Voges which was clearly not out.

Never going to happen. It's One Dayers, Tee ball and ready to head off on another tour by that time of the year.

I agree Booney those that came up with the idea from the ICC and wanted to try it came out, stated before it began that if it was over in less than three days it would be deemed a failure.

Have we had any explanation why Starc went out to bat instead of Hazlewood or Lyon?

I couldn't believe it when he came out. FFS, he's been made to sprint/hobble/hop for the match winning second run on a broken foot! He's our new main man, the leader of our attack in all forms of the game and in a home summer he's been made to go out for two runs when there was two other blokes who could have gone out there.

Or, was it that we worked out quite late that the masseuse couldn't go out and bat?
