Well played Nairne but a great effort from Strath with few runs to play with. Especially good performance from the Abbott boys bowling for the entire 1 and a half hours that it took Nairne to make the 30 runs required to win at the start of todays play. Another 50 runs on the board for Strath would have made it very interesting I think.
Congratulations Razorbacks on winning 6 in a row

Uraidla stretched every law of the game to draw the semi against Lofty and progress to the GF. Lofty bowled 68 overs by 6pm falling 2 short.

Are you able to elaborate a little?
Does anyone know if SCIBS got over Meadows?

What laws exactly did Uraidla stretch Dutchy? After having Uris 6 wickets down after 30 overs and then being unable to bowl Uri out, do Lofty deserve the win?

Re: Adelaide Hills Cricket (HCA, TVCA & A&EH) 2013/14.
Unfortunately rain ruined the game down at Meadows also.
Meadows made 201 off 70 on Saturday then only had to bowl a minimum of 48 overs on Sunday. Obviously they also slowed the game down significantly to only bowl that amount which you can't blame them, them's the rules, SCIB would've done the same.
SCIB we're 2 for 120 off 40, just appeared to miscalculate when to start hitting out and cost them. If game had gone 70 overs it would've been right down to the wire with an exciting finish.
I do believe the rule needs some adjusting as had the overs been bowled at a 'normal' rate they would've easily got through 55+. The game's also start 30 mins earlier, yet finish 30 mins earlier. Why not leave the finish time at 6:30 still to allow for any delays.

Thanks for posting the scores from that match Mop Up.
I'm not sure I understand the Hills Association rules. Am I correct in assuming that if the team batting second doesn't make the required amount of runs but also doesn't get bowled out then the game is a draw?

SCIBs must of lost 22 overs due to rain on Sunday?
Meadows finished above SCIBs so only needed a draw to proceed to the GF

I spoke to Jarrad also and he actually said he rates strath highly but they'll struggle to win a flag when they have 3 blokes who bat 9, 10 & 11 and don't bowl!! I tend to agree with him on this one - it takes 11 blokes to win a flag!!

Not everyone has the luxurious depth of players like Nairne does, in fact the only other A grade side in the hills I can think of that might is Meadows. It's easy to make statements like that when you are in a position such as Nairne are at present.

I agree Nairne have 11 who contribute, on the other hand Strath really only have 7 or 8 who do. If your going to bat at 8,9,10 and 11 you need to bowl or your just making up numbers..

Meadows and Nairne might be strong clubs with depth but playing on hard wickets is hardly challenging, hard wickets for kids, Turf for men..

Geez, tough luck for the red caps given the scores. I'm imagining from your comment Uri's used every technique possible in that final hour to slow the over-rate. I'm sure the '12th man' was given a fair work out.

Re: Adelaide Hills Cricket (HCA, TVCA & A&EH) 2013/14.
I never said Uraidla broke any rules, but fair to say they stretched them.
At 7/55 they put up the shutters and played for the draw, Lofty should have got the wickets, Carter did a great job holding up an end and that experience was the difference. Using his experience there was a pause from the bowler at the beginning of each delivery for the last 35 overs as he was never ready for the delivery. Add to that mid over conversations mid pitch and a drink run onto the field when they wernt running! Umpires never pulled him up on it, rules were stretched, but they did what they had to do.
If there were 5 more minutes in the game Lofty would have won.
The rules need to change, should be an option for a further 30 minutes to 6.30pm, why should 30 minutes of rain wreck a whole season???
Congrats to the Lofty lads on a great season, Im sure this one will bite for a long time and drive them onto bigger things next year.

Agree Lofty should have got the wickets, but clearly were the better team also. which is frustrating.
Good luck to Uri's on the weekend, anyone knwo how many GF's they have lost to Meadows in recent years?

Can't disagree with you Dutchy, lofty were probably the better team. I do think most teams would have done exactly as uraidla did in their position to get the result. Absolutely a great year from lofty but do you think they may have played the game differently if they had the chance? Found it a bit strange that they didn't try and get through their overs quicker earlier in the game.

The "kids" seem to have won the past 6 premierships the most recent of which was on turf!

What about a wicket keeper batting at 8, 9 10 or 11?

Agree, I said at tea that we should just bowl quick overs off 2 steps to make sure there was 70 played on the day, but the decision was made to back themselves in to get the last 3 wickets.
