The murder/suicide of the family in Sydney.
4 people now tragically dead including 2 kids.
I think a lot of us on here have kids a similar age to the 2 that were killed.
Very sad!
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

People on holidays, having the time of their lives and in an instant their lives are gone. Terribly sad news.

Hard to not believe in fate when things like that happen.

I know, I'm a bit weak like that, my eyes welled up driving home last night hearing of that, devastating, one victim had an 8 month old baby.

Shocking, there are 5-6 other rides at Dreamworld where you would be more worried about an accident than on that quite sedate ride.

Not weak mate, obviously hold family in high regard so it's times like these you think of the impact something like this would have on your own family.

Exactly when I first heard about it I thought it must of involved one of 'The Big 9 Thrill Rides'. Unbelievable that it happened on as you said, quite a sedate ride. A horrific, freak accident. :(

That Dreamworld is re-opening tomorrow, just does not feel right, give it at least 2-3 weeks although I reckon it should be a month, or at least wait until the victims are buried FFS.

More concerned out their share price.

Agreed on two fronts. 1, it just seems too soon. 2, I'm not sure it's a sound business decision anyway. How many people getting paid to open the place up Vs how many people go there and spend money? Can't see it being packed to the rafters over the coming days.

I'm not sure on this one, many years ago my dad was involved in an accident through work where two people died, although he was devastated he was told via counselling that the longer you put off returning to your natural life, the longer the pain sticks around and the harder it is to go back.

In respect to the families who have suffered I agree with you.

To those employees that had to witness such a tragedy I really don't know what would be best for them, it's really distressed me every time I read anything about it or hear anything on the news.

These people went to a theme park where everyone has fun, they lost their lives on probably the most placid ride there, the ride had finished, never in their wildest dreams would they think that they were not returning to the accommodation that evening, an 8 month baby has no mother.

Watching the Gold Coast mayor speak didn't do much for me, he should've had a written statement and read from it, he bumbled through the questions he was asked and didn't come across well, some people say it best when they say nothing at all.

Sorry for my preach.

No big rides will be open, all moneys taken on the day is donated to red cross. Whitewater World will be open.

Hell, they have to get back on the bike sometime...

No one shut the whole royal show down when that girl died on a ride a few years back.

A very sad, freak accident but they can't keep the doors closed forever. (Unless the safety authorities say otherwise)

The PR people associated with Dreamworld should be emptying bins for a living next week. It's been nothing but an unmitigated disaster on all fronts.

I just think this thing needs time, agree that most counsellers will tell you to get straight back on the horse (I had a shotgun put in my chest 20 years ago at work by a drug crazed lunatic and was told not to miss a day of work as it will make it worse) however I think this one is different. You don't expect to go to these places to die, its a happy place....Dreamworld need to somehow make it happy again, and to do that they need to give time for healing and then rebuild their brand from there.

IMO of course.

Great point, average Joe would feel guilty having fun there in the immediate future.

There is no right or wrong solution, I do think the right thing has happened on this occasion, at least the police took it out of anyone's hands.

Easy for everyone to take pot shots but it is a situation that none have been in before, Im sure it is a difficult time for all involved

Mentioned that police thought they would be finished by mid afternoon Thursday so Dreamworlds executives decided to organise a Memorial Day with all funds generated going to charity then the police investigation took longer than anticipated wasn't that they didn't communicate with the police, things changed. That ride won't be open but the rest of the park will be when it does open again so what's the difference if it does opens today or next week?

No reason all that can't be done in 2-3 weeks time

Pain will still be there for the families in 2-3 weeks, sometimes it's better for others to continue life as quickly as possible

I would've thought out of respect to the the deceased that the reopening could wait until after they were laid to rest.
