Tha afl are saying they are pleased with how the four umpire system is going as well.
Do they actually listen to the fans at all?
Tell me when in football history that the fans were happy with the umps?
Never, but now we have more reason to be upset

Any umpire has to be better than Laurie Argent and Rick Kinnear

I'd let the boundary and goal umpires make decisions if they have a good angle of a clear missed free.

Exactly, the feeling that umps are worse than ever has happened ever since the game was invented.

Game used to be easy to umpire, now the rules feel like they have tripled.
It's 4 different interpretations...
If the controlling umpire makes no call, the next nearest makes no call then the third farthest makes a call then we go with that.

It's a shitshow.
The whole reason 4 umps was brought in cause everyone was angry for all the calls that were missed. Now we are all angry for the calls that are being made by the ump outside of the area picking up on these that were previously missed.

And to keep the good umpires like Rosey and Stevic in the game longer by reducing the running load on them in games. It also takes the pressure off the MZ umpire by having two in there so the umpires are in the best position (side on) to improve their chances of making better decisions.

Like the players there are "clangers" each week but not as many by the players IMO.

Two clangers (missed free kicks) in a game you are dropped at the AFL level

Nation wide umpire shortage so if you want to have a crack contact the SANFL umpiring dept and they can point you in the right direction to your local a panel.

Rowston is always looking for umpires in the Adelaide footy League
.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Some of those calls made by umpires 85m away are disgraceful. Particularly when the officiating ump is right there 3m away.
The most obvious shocker was Hawkins V Port in the forward pocket of the Ablett stand.

Can't expect them to see free kicks when they can't even see people.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

For me the pertinent question is, how often are talking about them this season in comparison with other years?

That's why they were sponsored by specsavers a couple of years back.

I think we are talking about them more because interpretations vary wildly within the same game, when they had 2 or 3 you kind of accepted things would be missed but the whole point of bringing in 4 was to avoid things being missed. Seems more things than ever are missed or what is a free to one team in front of their goals isn't a free to another in front of their goals.

The last couple of weeks has seen an increase in noticeable instances of 2 players not wanting to be the first to pick up a footy so neither actually does.

That indecision feels like it has also happened with the umpires, they seem too afraid to call something wrong so let it go and then someone from 100m away thinks they saw it so pays it sometimes but not others. Consistency is all that anyone is after.

Feels like the modern umpire spends their whole game looking for something to blow the whistle for, watched the 99 GF the other day and it felt like they just paid the obvious frees and tried to let the game flow. Wasn't perfect but it was far closer to it than the frustrating adjudications we have today.

Oh and do away with the stand rule, it is pointless and hasn't increased scoring or relieved congestion.

The jack crisp touched goal. Ordinary!
Now the guy the afl killed off on Hall of Fame night saying that according to them they've spoken to him.
According to him they haven't.

It really is, as someone else said on here a real shit show at the moment.

AFL will be having circle jerks every Mon morning at their review of the round meeting at the prospect of a Carlton Collingwood GF this year
