Remember a few years ago they said it was going to be 44 degrees one Saturday all week when the Test match or ODI (most likely ODI as GC always have the Test off...) was in town at at the 4pm update they dropped it to mid 30's you deadset heard the collective groan from all the cricketers in the stadium!

Re: Grade Cricket
Nielsen ended up keeping the first session for the Eagles on Saturday. Pressure from SACA and a handshake deal made for Peter's down the drain. Disappointing from the Eages as this was always on the cards.
On a positive note, great spectacle down at Henley oval Friday night for the women's First grade T20 against Uni. Shame lighting rules have changed which means Karen Rolten and Henley GM aren't up to cricket Australia's standard for men's 1st a and 2nd grade. Believe the light/lux required changed after the builds?

Adelaide Women going very well ATM, won the T20 final yesterday, how were they going as a team at SD last year (I can’t remember)?

They played finals in both grades (even GF's in both I think).Brodlach wrote:Adelaide Women going very well ATM, won the T20 final yesterday, how were they going as a team at SD last year (I can’t remember)?
Basically got Southerns A Grade side playing in 2nd Grade, were paying $1.01 to win both their comps this year.
Was a joke SACA did not put them in 1st Grade, wanted them to earn their spot.
Just a waste of time for them with no competition at all.

Re: Grade Cricket
Thanks, I remember before Adelaide got the license that many called for them to have a year in the comp before being allowed into Div1

Re: Grade Cricket
Ridiculous situation to put an a grade side in b grade what did they expect
Adelaide juniors continue to impress have made ray Sutton final whilst reigning under 14 red under 18 premiers and under 16 red runners up doing something right hope for them it translates into a strong first grade side in the coming years

Re: Grade Cricket
Was it Harry's decision to go to WT? was this discussed prior to him signing? Surely a club like WT, with a rich history of First Class players, would have been aware that SACA would likely make that direction when he is available for WTPort Pirie Power wrote:If he wanted to keep he should’ve stayed at woodville.Tony Clifton wrote:Why wouldn't Nielsen keep? Re: Grade Cricket
Harry wanted to come back to WT, play 1st Grade at the club his father did. He wanted to come last year and we said no. Over winter he approached Hags again. Him (and his girlfriend) are very close to Spencer and Kelvin, and he wanted to play with them also. The Angry Bull wrote:Was it Harry's decision to go to WT? was this discussed prior to him signing? He, and SACA, were told we have an extremely good keeper, has some of the best hands going around. He left us once before because he was behind Harry, then ironically Harry moved to Woodville and it happened to him again.
They were told several times, happy to have you back as top order batter, but Warren Peters will be the keeper. They agreed to this. SACA then put enormous pressure on Hags to keep Harry this week as has not kept much lately. Compromise was reached to keep first session on Saturday.
Obviously was difficult situation, could see it was going to happen all along. Now with Alex Carey likely to be Australian keeper, Harry will get to do all the Strikers games for two months and the back end of the Shield games and One day Cup matches.
Not sure the Club could have done much more to be honest.
If Josh Inglis gets picked then we are in for more pain

Re: Grade Cricket
Not picking on you Eags14 but the above and other post like this highlight all that is wrong with SA cricket, grade clubs shouldn't be dictating in anyway shape or form to the direction of the state team.Eagles2014 wrote:Harry wanted to come back to WT, play 1st Grade at the club his father did. As an outside SA cricket fan looking in this is another case of the tail wagging the dog
if the state selectors want Nielsen to keep, that's the end of argument. Peters fields in the slips, short leg or fine leg to fine leg if he plays ones. If he still wants to keep, off to the 2nds for you son.
Elite sport isnt fair, if Peters misses outs on the gloves because the state team want Nielsen to keep, stiff sh!t. That's the nature of being a a 'keeper, it's arguably the most competitive spot in a cricket team you- only need one. He can make a cricket career decision. He is by no means the most first 'keeper in Australia that this has happened to.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
