EPL Season 2010/11

Aug 14-17th tips:
•2units - Chelsea win - Bolton V Fulham under 2.5 goals @ $1.97 (S)
•2units - Tottenham V Man City over 2.5 goals @ $1.91 (SB)
•1.25units - Wigan win @ $1.85 (S)
•1unit - Draw - Sunderland V Birmingham @ $1.85 (S)
Season Preview
The EPL season is back after a short lay off and another appetising season is on the plate. New teams, new siginings will likely equal a new league table. We look to continue on our amazing form from last year where throughout the season we won +124.01 units and our season future bets brought us +27units. It's going to be hard to get near that again, but we like a challenge.

Promoted Teams

Blackpool - Back in the top flight for the first time since 1971. Have struggled to fill the required 25 man squad, so looks likely to be a short trip to the Premier League

Newcastle - It was a bit of a wake up call for the Magpies last year, going down to the Championship, but they took it style. Have the talent to stay up this year and even cause a few upsets.

West Brom - Once again they have jumped back up, which has been the case over the last decade. Probably cause the odd upset by most likely to continue their trend and fall back down.

Big 5 + 1

Arsenal - It has all been about Cesc Fabregas since the World Cup. For the moment he looks to be staying, but is he 100% committed. Haven't made any big inclusions, so they will be strong at home and always attacking, but don't where the improvement to take the next step is coming from.

Chelsea - Stopped Man Utd's run of three league titles and again look the hot tip to take out the league. Lost Michael Ballack, but have gained a few good players including Yossi Benayoun. Have every chance to go back-to-back, especially if Drogba has a similar season.

Liverpool - Went from bad to worse last year and unfortunately it doesn't look like it will get any better. The inclusion of new coach Roy Hodgson is a good move, but trying to keep Torres fit is the key. Others teams are have improved more.

Manchester United - It could be the changing of the guard at Old Trafford. They have many quality young players are making their way into the side. Players like Scholes and Berbatov will find themselves with less game time. Still very hard to see them slip to far, but you never want to discount Fergie and his troops

Manchester City - Another off season of big spending. Toure, Silva, Kolarov, Boateng will help their cause to take over their city rivals. They could be very well be building the foundations for a dynasty here. Don't be suprised to see them give this title a real crack.

Tottenham Hotspur - They are the plus one. Although all the talk is about the traditional Big 4 and Man City, people forget that Spurs finished 4th last year. They are happy with their players and with another year under Harry Redknapp they should again be pushing for a Champions League spot

Tough year ahead

Wigan Athletic - Really struggled towards the end of last season and thankful there were some pretty average sides that were below them. Had the worst goal differnce in the league last year and if it is anything similar they will fall.

Fulham - After two great years where they qualified for Europe and then came runners up in the Europa League Final, they could come crashing back down to earth. They have lost their mastermind in Roy Hodgson and look set to lose Schwarzer as he has his sights set on a move to Arsenal. Most likely finish in the bottom half, but will do enough to avoid relegation.

Final Word

It is really hard to go past Chelsea again. They have made their side even stronger and look to be the hunted. It is ahrd to see Liverpool turn around last years disapointment as the likes of Tottenham and Man City will be pushing hard to push themselves into the top 4.

Season Bets

•3units - Chelsea win Premier League @ $2.75 (SB)
•3units - Blackpool to finish bottom @ $1.80 (S)
•2units - Chelsea/Man U Exacta @ $5.00 (SB)
•2units - Wigan to be relegated @ $3.00 (S/SB)
•1unit - Torres to goal scorer @ $8.00 (S)
•1unit - Drogba top goal scorer @ $6.50 (SB)
•1unit - Rooney top goal scorer @ $6.50 (S/SB)
•1unit - Newcastle top 10 finish @ $4.50 (SB)

west ham v tottenham

im very keen on west ham here, even despite them being bottom and tottenham being in the top half of the table

my reasoning is Tottenham played a league cup game during the week - which they lost, they now front up to west ham who they should beat BUT they have a champions league game next wednesday and i think they will want a full squad to choose from next week. there reserves may be good enough to beat west ham, but im punting that west ham at home, tottenham not at full strength could lead to a west ham win or draw at worst.

$3.55 for the win

$1.70 for the double chance

someone was asking for an explanation on Asaian Handicap Betting before somewhere on here, so here is one

Asian Handicap Betting
Asian Handicap or Asian Line Betting is a bet type that offers a better chance of winning than conventional fixed betting odds. Asian Handicap originated in Asia and today is taking Europe by storm.

IASbet has the largest selection of Asian Handicap markets in the world - Join Now

Asian Handicaps are the smart way to bet on soccer:
You have a 50% better chance of winning than with traditional odds
You bet on only two outcomes, the home or away team, the draw is eliminated
You will get more frequent returns from your stakes
You can win your bet even if your team draws or loses the match
IASbet has the largest selection of Asian H’cap and Live Asian H’cap markets in the world
The Handicap
The handicap is given in an attempt to make the two teams equal for betting purposes. The Handicap is given as head start to the underdog, so they have a virtual lead in the game. For example with 1/2 goal (0.5), 1 goal (1), etc. For betting purposes, the winning team is decided on the final score, after 90 minutes (normal time) after taking the handicap into account.

There are two types of Asian Handicaps, Single handicaps and Split (Double or Quarter) Handicaps, this is explained in the examples below.

The Favourite
The favourite has to overcome the indicated handicap, and will have it taken away from its final score. The handicap for the favourite is preceded by a minus (-).

The Underdog
As the underdog is given a head start, they will have the handicap added to its final score. The handicap for the underdog is indicated by a plus (+).

Single Handicap

Example: 0.5 ball handicap
The underdogs will start the game with a score of +0.5, which then means there can’t be a draw result when the handicap is included. The favourites have to win by at least 1 goal to win the bet, while bets on the underdog win with any other result.

Example: 0 ball handicap
If the two teams are evenly matched a 0 ball handicap would be offered. In this case you can bet on either team to win the match. If the match ends in a draw all bets are refunded.

Example: 1 ball handicap
The favourite will start the game with a score of -1 which then means, the favourite has to win by 2 or more goals to win the bet, while the bet will be refunded if the favourite only beat the underdogs by 1 goal. Conversely, the underdog will win the bet if only they win or draw the match, while the bets will be refunded if the favourite only beat the underdogs by 1 goal.

Please Note: you must either deduct the handicap from the favourite or add it to the underdogs final score - not both.

Split (Double or Quarter) Handicap

The best way to understand this type of handicap is to imagine you have two separate bets with your stake being split equally between the two handicaps, this can result in the following scenarios.
Full Win: Both bets win
Half Win: One bet wins and the other bet draws (stake returned)
Half Lose: One bet draws (stake returned) and the other bet loses
Full Loss: Both bets lose
Example: 0.5/1 ball handicap
With a handicap of 0.5/1, half your stake will be at a 0.5 ball handicap, and half at a 1 ball handicap.

Argentina (- 0.5/ -1) @ $1.95
Germany (+ 0.5/+1) @ $1.95

A stake of $100 on Argentina (-0.5,-1) means:
$50 of your stake will go on Argentina ‘minus half a goal’ and, the other $50 will go on Argentina ‘minus one goal’. You do not need to place the two $50 stakes separately. This will be automatically recognised by our system when you place your $100 stake.

To work out your return, simply calculate the return from each of the two separate $50 bets. Each bet is calculated in the same manner as a single ball handicap. Thus, if Argentina win the match by one goal, the $50 stake at ‘minus half a goal’ is determined to be a winning bet, and the other half of the wager ($50 at ‘minus one goal’) is determined to be a refund. You will win on your full $100 stake (both $50 bets) if Argentina win by 2 or more goals

Agreed MT + Everton at Blackpool 4/5. Easy money. Liverpool were terrible on Thurs against Napoli. Shoulda been further down than 1-0, and took Gerrard to put some class into the game after half time!
