AFL Round 1

Post by Booney »

Week one of the AFL season and there's not much to work with form wise as the JLT ( Just Like Training ) counts for somewhere between nought and nothing.

Thursday :
Richmond v Carlton

Friday :
Collingwood v Bulldogs

Saturday :
St Kilda v Melbourne
Sydney v Port
Essendon v Hawthorn
Gold Coast v Brisbane

Sunday :
North v West Coast
Adelaide v GWS
Fremantle v Geelong
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I cannot believe they continue to persist with Carlton v Richmond every year to kick off the season!!! The certainly don't deserve it

All to do with $$
Guaranteed 60k no matter what.
Gil will get his nice little bonus if he breaks attendance records and I think 370,000 in one round is the record and they are expecting 400k this first week

Reckon Carlton v Richmond is a good season opener .. Long time rivals, there's never usually much between them, big crowd. Great way to start a season imho.

And with neither supporter group having any expectations, ever, whoever gets the win is pleasantly surprised.

It is so at least one of the two can enjoy the experience of being on the top of the premiership table for at least 24 hours.

They have broken membership records with over 50k now. Should be minimum of 40k at game

Was just thinking that Port aren't a major draw card. Then again it is round 1. The fans are excited for a new season.

Sportsbet recently surveyed their members on whom they support, and the Swans topped the list (along with Liverpool :D )
