What are the reasons given for Skipworth going to Bendigo? Salary? AFL opportunity? Work? I hope Skipworth enjoys playing second fiddle to young AFL players in a club that finished 2nd bottom last year. Perhaps if they do somehow make the Grand Final he'll enjoy playing in front of a small crowd at a suburban ground. Strange decision. Disappointing for the Eagles.

For what it's worth coming from a North supporter I agree with you 100 percent Aerie and I think it is a dumb decision unless he has been given an absolute guarantee that Essendon will pick him up next year that no-one knows about but it seems there must be more to this decision than meets the eye.

Nup - right the first time - just a dumb decision. Tells a story about his manager.

It just seems strange given most of the players striving for AFL or wanting to play in the best competition outside AFL or wanting more money come to South Australia, yet we have a guy who has grown up with the Eagles and knows his role and definitely would be a Magarey chance going the other way. In the last two years alone we've had Gill, Vince, Stokes, Patfull, Roe, Hughes and Bryce Campbell picked up as mature league footballers.

It would be interesting to hear the real reasons he's left. Perhaps didn't want to be in Adelaide given he'd probably be regularly running into old teammates etc. May feel a bit pis*ed off with the Crows and Port for that matter, given he trained with them. As I've already said, hopefully he comes back to the Eagles in a year or two if things don't work out for him in the AFL 'cos he's a bloody good state league player.

Yes dutchy, it's a bitter pill to swallow, still it pales into insignificance with the news of Warney and McGrath...

Might I add that he can give the Jack Oatey to its rightful owner before he leaves, too.

It would also be a bit funny if he wasn't picked up in next years draft; then he might reconsider coming back.

Im sure he would, just read todays paper, its all about putting him in the best position to be drafted next year, Adelaide and Port have both passed on him but 5-6 Victorian clubs are interested.

Dont think it would be "funny"...how many Victorian recruits come here and then go home?

That he went interstate instead of staying here trying to get drafted; but only not to get drafted.

Does anyone know if the Eagles are interested in recruiting Ty Zantuck? He would be a perfect fit into the Eagles side.

Disappointing to lose Skippy obviously, but so be it.

Don't underestimate the loss of Potter, a good hard working team player.

Just what we needed another forward/midfielder - not. All though there is a spot available now that skippy's gone and done the dirty on us. Only time will tell. I hope we hear of another couple of recruits before season's start otherwise our title defence will be looking shaky even before the season gets underway.
