People get sucked into the strength of the Premier League in which many of the top players are non-english, their defence is very suspect and their GK are poor.
The only reason they are at 9s is all the English ex-pats etc throw coin on em...

whufc wrote:First Game Up South Africa vs Mexico
Head-to-Head
South Africa 2.88
Draw 3.20
Mexico 2.50
Think the Draw here is a bit of value. Host nations generally do pretty well at World Cups including South Korea and Japan making the semis. South Africa is an average side but first up think they will do enough to hold onto a draw
my prediction= 1-1
Head-to-Head
Uruguay 3.75
Draw 3.20
France 2.10
France were lucky to scrape through the qualifiers while Uruguay were fairly consistent performers in probably the toughest qualification zone. Both teams are near to full strength but France are big stage performers.
my prediction= France 2-0
Head-to-Head
South Korea 2.80
Draw 3.10
Greece 2.62
Hard to split these two sides, South Korea have made a WC semi and Greece who won the European Cup qualified through a tough European Group, both sides play total opposite football. South Korea a quick temp attacking game while Greece through men behind the ball and play a slow tempo defensive game. I think they may cancel each other out.
my prediction= 0-0
Head-to-Head
Argentina 1.50
Draw 4.00
Nigeria 7.00
Hard to go past the Argies but in saying that they have lost early WC Cup games to African nations before. Nigeria will have one of the largest supporter groups at the world cup but that won't be enough to ge them over the line. Should be one of the most entertaining games from the first round
my prediction= Argies 3-1

England are hot favourites but i think this game will be alot closer than many think. Always alot of pressure on the Poms while the USA are very confident and have a decent side to match.
My Prediction= England 1-0 John Terry from the head at a set piece
Handicap -
England -1.0 2.50
USA +1.0 2.60
Handicap Draw -1.0 3.25
