4 Tests against a strong Sout African side, batted 7-8 avg 21 HS 68
9 wkts avg 33 ECON 2.45 BB 3-25
Not a bad start against S AF,

At the moment he is injured anyway, but If he was fit I would have him in, the key is to take 20 wkts and on these roads that wont be easy.

Ferguson has not done enough at the moment to earn his spot.
Seriously if Johnson is not bowling well don't pick him. Adelaide will be a fricken road, for 3 days at least.

Bollinger has earned his chance in front of Harris. North should be looked at.
Kwahaja has dropped off lately but definitly has done enough at this stage to at least be considered.
If Clarke is not 100% fit, do not pick up. Pick guys that are in form and can go the distance because adelaide is going to be a hard slog.

My team for adelaide would be:
Katich
Watson
Ponting
Clarke - Only if fit. If not then alot of people will get there wish and Ferguson would be the guy to come in.
Hussey
Khawaja - In place of North. I believe North has had enough chances, give this guy a go.
Haddin
Doherty
Siddle
Hilfenhaus
Bollinger - Yes I believe he is fit and bowling well. Johnson is not, and adelaide will be hard yakka.

First Test:

15 Runs
22 Overs 8 Maidens 1/41
13 Overs 6 Maidens 2/32

Second Test:

0 Runs
10 Overs 4 Maidens 1/22
7 Runs
22 Overs 8 Maidens 1/31

Third Test:

4*
12 Overs 4 maidens 3/25
16 Overs 3 Maidens 0/47

Fourth Test:

13 Runs
27 Overs 7 Maidens 1/102 (South Africa hit 650)
68 Runs

Soo, from what i can gather, his batting was improving as he played more tests.
He bowled poorly once, although the team performed poorly on that occasion conceeding 650.
I know that i'd like to have a guy bat at 8 and be able to hit runs, as well as take the odd wicket and hold up an end. Most times he bowled, he went for only 2 runs per over.

With all this rain you would think the wicket would be fairly green,

Hilfy might be the perfect bowler for this type of pitch.

Play him for humour value. Never laughed as much as his debut game when he got hit in the scone and retired hurt

Will be remembered as outstanding Shield cricketer who played a few tests (with some reasonable results). We should recruit him for SA, could use an import or two.

Team - Katich (if fit), Watson, Ponting, Clarke, Huss, North (no other batters in squad), Haddin, Hilfy, Doherty, Bollinger & Siddle. Harris 12th because he will give 100% at everything he does, Johnson back to Grade Cricket in Perth and make up with his mum.

Johnson is OUT ! Official.

The only question is who replaces him.

Still a disgrace they have kept North in the squad.

2 down - 2 to go.

I think the pitch may suprise, we havent had the hot baking days for the pitch to dry right out and coming off a wet winter it will be interesting.

The draw is Evens, way way too short, time to LAY it on BF

Just what we need. Another bowler who can get one for a hundred. What I can gather from the above is that he was out of his depth at this level. Scoring 68 is a good effort but that doesn't represent a gradual improvement in batting because in the rest of his knocks he scored bugger all. He is a partnership breaker who bats at seven tops. Not the sort of cricketer we need.

We need a strike bowler and a decent spinner. McDonald is neither.
