If 'rules are rules' then how come the Cowell decision was made?
I think some people and clubs have more sportsmenship than others. They are realists and know the wipe the score penalty is to severe and it is what no one wants
The Eastern Eyre decision took 40 minutes to sort out yet they agreed on something outside the rules. If Kimba got up and won I don't think Cowell would really have a leg to stand on if they wanted to take it further after the match.
Also by not following the rules of the game by having the correct amount of players on the field is unsportsman like as well as demanding the score be wiped.
It boils down to that you broke the rules of the game and got caught. Fair enough if you realise your mistake and correct it before the opposition finds out then play on.
Believe me this 19 men thing happened in SANFL football 2 weeks ago. Admittedly it was the reserves and it had no bearing on the result of the game as the 'offending' club already too far behind to win and the extra player was on on the field for 1 minute of clock time. The Interchange Steward knew exactly what was going on as the Team Manager openly told him of the error. Yet did nothing as no count was called by the opposition.
