This whole thread long ago became a massive joke, sadly though it's getting worse. There's no evidence from anywhere at all do proceed with.

As for avoiding future incidents without witnesses, the only option is to add cameras to pick up the whole ground. No you can't simply tell the umpires to watch more closely because there are 9 umpires on the ground I believe, how many do you want to be watching the play? If none of the 17 teammates these guys had on the ground saw it, seems a bit rich to expect the umpires to.

There is video that suggests Kirk was right near Wundke just before he hit the deck, that is enough grounds to ask him what he saw, heard, thought happened etc. The option of having an SANFL employee attend Monday night training and spend an hour asking questions a couple of times a year is significantly cheaper than setting up behind the goals cameras at four grounds every round.

I do think in the three umpire system that the non controlling umpire who is inside 50 should position himself so that he can see the players in his area of the ground rather than just watch the ball. The players must all watch the ball. My role as a spectator is to watch the game, his is to do what ever is necessary to make the game run properly. If that means not watching the ball then too bad. My suggestion though was that the umpires observer in the grandstand could make a note of incidents in the game that may need reviewing or investigating.

How do you know none of the players on the ground saw what happened if noone has asked them? If Tambling was the nearest Sturt player, has anyone asked him what he knows?

I don't accept that the correct response to fairly serious injuries (even if short lasting) that involve a player being stretchered off is "the TV coverage did not show anything so we will just pretend it did not happen" it damages our competition and that is my concern.

Oh FFS!!!! Just when you thought this thread was almost going to slide down to page two of the SANFL board

Your thoughts about Cubillo being close to Neale and the commentators referring immediately to Neale going down as a result of an incident with Cubillo, or do you just want to continue this four day witch hunt on Kirky???

Took Cross and Meaney et al. almost a minute to finger Kirky and then only after Sturt players started to remonstrate with him.

Your concern for the 2nd smallest player on the field is well and truly noted.

Your not the nut in the SANFL who only thought to write a press releases on the Wundke incident are you???
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

If a Sturt player saw something then that would be evidence and then either the SANFL or Sturt could use it to form the basis of an investigation or a charge.

So you suggest the SANFL talk to Kirk, then what if he says he didn't see anything? Suspend him for not providing an answer?

As for the umpire's observer, I'd suggest they are there to observe the umpires. No doubt if anyone involved in an official capacity saw something they could no doubt provide evidence. As for that nonsense about non controlling umpires let's not forget the main purpose of the umpires being there is to make sure the rules are upheld, that means watching the play a fair bit. They can now keep more of an eye on the play ahead and behind the ball with the extra umpires there but you can't exclusively watch players standing around just in case something happens or you'd miss so much of what you're there for at all!

Like I said, only way to make sure all these things are caught is to film every inch of the ground. We all know the cost of that is prohibitive, so for the very odd occaision when nobody sees anything I think we're going to have to cop it and be thankful that neither "victim" was too badly hurt.

I actually wrote that both incidents should be looked at. Then a Glenelg fan responded about Kirk, so I replied to that post. My concern is for the reputation of the competition and I think it has suffered due to lack of investigation of these incidents by SANFL. My guess is the press release was written because the Wundke incident gained exposure in the paper. I played no part in that. I am also not responsible for comments made by ABC commentators.

I think that the grassy knoll was transferred from Dallas to Glenelg for this match. Was there a repository building nearby?
