Interesting... obviously has links to the club but I would have thought they would be looking for someone with a bit more experience after a year that can only be described as a disappointment?

Don't quote me on this but I believe he has been a asst coach at Glenelg reserves and was asst coach this year at SHOC.

Would be a massive get for the hawks if that was the case.

Have heard, he MAY play the odd game. here and there. Not really what the Hawks need surely

I think it would be great for the young guys to play with somebody like him even if it was for the odd game.

DTH
As much as it hurts me to say. Well done to BDOS in achieving the utlimate in both A and B grade. A fantastic effort by your club and a great reflection on your committee for going with a young coach who delivered.

I ask one question though. Are BDOS going to have a crack at back to back in the SFL???? in season 2012

Vics01- if your suggesting that perhaps brighton are looking at re-joining the amateur league next season(which is what I think you are saying) then do u really blame them?
They are probably sick of the incompetent board being the sfl trying to run this league, it's an absolute joke the decisions they have made regarding the running of the league.

Hopefully they have done their research this time as I've heard alot of mix responses about this guys previous playing and coaching rolls. Obviously done none or very little when it come to appointing stringer.. Maybe a young coach is the answer someone that can relate with the very young list they have. I suppose they only have to look at what young coach Sam mahony has achieved down at Brighton.. I bet the cobras wish Sam was available earlier this year..

Not sure about these days haven't seen him play for a while but reads the ball well and gets to the right spots. Was a stand out player at aldinga when there wasn't much help around him. This is more from juniors heading up towards seniors as I haven't played against him for prob 5 years. absolute top bloke off the field also.

I really don't know if you could compare the two clubs and Mick and Sam. Brighton have a very good list of players with plenty of blokes to pick from in the B grade as well, played in the last 2 grand final's where as Cove seem to be a club imploding and are on the downward slide. I'm quite sure Mick could have gone in with the same group and probably done just as well as Sam (not taking away anything from Sam). I guess Sam was lucky to find himself in that situation.
Sometimes I think it shows true character of a coach when you can take on a team or club that aren't in there peak and try and get them playing finals and then potentially winning a GF.
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!

if they had to start at the bottom i cant imagine that they would swap to the SAAFL. unless they get a gig in div 1 or 2 there is no point in changing leagues

I'm told by a reputable (and well tanned) source that Brighton have been offered entry into Div 3...
