Interesting... obviously has links to the club but I would have thought they would be looking for someone with a bit more experience after a year that can only be described as a disappointment?
Hopefully they have done their research this time as I've heard alot of mix responses about this guys previous playing and coaching rolls. Obviously done none or very little when it come to appointing stringer.. Maybe a young coach is the answer someone that can relate with the very young list they have. I suppose they only have to look at what young coach Sam mahony has achieved down at Brighton.. I bet the cobras wish Sam was available earlier this year..
I really don't know if you could compare the two clubs and Mick and Sam. Brighton have a very good list of players with plenty of blokes to pick from in the B grade as well, played in the last 2 grand final's where as Cove seem to be a club imploding and are on the downward slide. I'm quite sure Mick could have gone in with the same group and probably done just as well as Sam (not taking away anything from Sam). I guess Sam was lucky to find himself in that situation.
Sometimes I think it shows true character of a coach when you can take on a team or club that aren't in there peak and try and get them playing finals and then potentially winning a GF.
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!
