The stupidest thig Wiggins did was walk off and through the terrace right in front of the grandstand in front of all the North supporters. He would've been better off walking around the boundary line and down the mini-race to the visitors rooms. He was asking for trouble walking the route he did.
Anyone walking away from their teammates when down by 100 points shouldn't be playing anyway. If I was one of his teammates I wouldn't wanna put my body on the line for him next week.

Probably worthwhile remembering that one of the chief destroyers of West today, was at the club until a very well publicised altercation with Wiggins in 2005 - a point not lost on a number of West people (acknowledging there were a couple of others issues involved there)

It will be interesting to hear what coach Wayne Weidemann has to say on that question, not saying anything at all for a few days is a good way to start to let emotions simmer down and for the situation to be dealt with for the best outcome for the team.
Do his team mates feel that he has let them down and do they not want him in the side? What happens if his team mates are willing to let it go and to have him give it another go? Should the team & staff let that happen?
Ultimatley the decision should fall to the coach, he has to carry the can for the teams performance this season and is appointed to take responsability for coaching them in the way that he feels is appropriate and the outcomes that come from that.
Wiggins made a huge mistake, yet whether that is a career ending mistake or one to swallow a bitter pill and learn from is yet to be seen.

It does occur to me that Gary Ablett was sacked from Hawthorn for breaching the clubs rules, he went onto Geelong to become one of the greatest footballers of all time, I am tipping that Hawthorn would not have sacked Ablett if they had an inkling that would be the outcome. Is Wiggins best football behind him or in front of him?

Ablett played 6 games for Hawthorn in 1982. He went back to the country in 1983 and was picked up by Geelong in 1984. Don't think the Hawks could be too dissapointed though. After Ablett left, Hawthorn played in the Grand Final in 1983, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89 and 1991. Won 5 flags out of that lot.

How dare the captain of the club at the time (Dean Howard) try & instill discipline & respect into his team-mates!The Whisper wrote:Pag wrote:Anyone walking away from their teammates when down by 100 points shouldn't be playing anyway.
