Perhaps if we ever got a directly elected President whose role was more like an Ombudsman looking after our civil rights, one of their roles could be appointing an independent Speaker who was not able to be sacked by the party in power but only by the President, and who could thus make the MPs stick to the point rather than campaign and propagandise in the House..Sky Pilot wrote:Oh yeah I agree. Lawyers for embattled Labor MP Craig Thomson have asked a senate committee not to publish Fair Work Australia's report into the Health Services Union.
Mr Thomson had previously said he had nothing to hide, but his legal team is now arguing the release of the report could prejudice any legal action taken against him.
