Because there are other teams also in the area who will suffer recruiting problems, because one team can pump high profile players with 'questionable' cash, why others who choose not too, dont stand a chance. Lets hope for their sake it works, because if it doesnt, the downside of this 'high', will be a complete bottom out. I hope there juniors are getting any leftover spare coins that fall from their players pockets, with the direction they are heading, i fear for them. But i guess you have to try something, to stay 'competitive'.

How can their cash be "questionable"? There is no salary cap and if a sponsor or benefactor stumps up the cash then that's their good fortune. The money issue is a looming problem for a lot of SFL clubs, especially given the divide between top and bottom sides, but it's perfectly legal to pay a player however much you like, as long as the incomei is declared by the player.

1. Brett Backwell contacted us. He lives close and knows a few boys at the club, all helps. He could have gone to Strath or a few other clubs for some very big coin but he didn't. He picked us. Every club would have fitted him into there team, we would have been stupid to say no to him.
2. I thought our midfield was petty good already. We still have Ruwoldt and King to come back in and now with Backwell it will only get better. All of the players are pretty happy to have him on board, you would rather play with him than against him. Football is about team success not individual. One of our points players had to go back home to the country for personal reasons so Brett will fill his spot nicely.
3. Points. We are in the second year of an agreement with the SFL regarding points. We have 3 extra this year and next year will be back to 15. The club now has all grades bar U18's and is close to getting them. The junior teams are becoming alot stronger (will leave the saturday/sunday point for another post) and we hope to see them moving into the senior teams in the next 2 years. Have we wasted our extra points? no I don't think so, Cranston has been a great pick up and is worth the 4 points and the pack of chips and can of soft drink we pay him. Would be getting a bit but $1300 is a joke. He also would have been a factor with Backwell coming on board. The club had a 3 year plan regarding the extra points and juniors, so far the plan is working and maybe a bit quicker than we thought.
4. We want the league to become stronger but there are alot of people out there that criticize when clubs try to improve. The same old saying, trying to buy a premiership, spending to much money, poaching other clubs players not spending enough time on there juniors. The Morphettville Park football club is trying to build a strong and successfull club not just for one year but for the next 20 years. GO THE ROOS.

Well answered, Apart from their footy abilities, Trev and Mouse are both quality blokes who would be great around any footy club.

i have been following the Southern League for a while now, have been working a few saturdays but get to games when i can for a look..
I am interested in the Aldinga football club - there results were much improved last year and this year they have fallen away dramatically. I know the coach and a few players have gone but wow what a drop..
I have actually seen one or two of their clubs C Grade games and they have some good footballers in that side, surely these guys could be playing up a level? Their C Grade have been quite competitive and as mentioned there are some solid on ballers who can find the footy, albeit some are a bit slow in regards to leg speed..
whats next for the Sharks next year? will players hang around?
Thanks
