If thats the extent of their publicity no wonder no-one cares. I haven't read or heard a thing about it anywhere else and I have family living locally. Pretty odd if you ask me.

Cheers for the 'heads up' DD. Your eyesight is better than mine though. I looked for the sign today and could barely read it due to 2 metre high weeds. Like you, I have heard nothing whatsoever about any AGM until your post. I am local and read all info including the 'Courier'. I'm a bit perplexed as to why the Eagles expect to stay afloat when no-one knows anything about any meetings. Callington Show had a huge turn-out last week-end. Surely this was a golden opportunity to canvas support?

This is ridiculous! Callington officials were at a recent HFL Meeting with all other country division clubs; Callington nominated that they would in fact have 2 junior teams as well as 2 senior teams in 2013..... This news indicates they in no way intend on playing C'Grade considering the C'Grade don't require juniors or a second senior comp...
Now we're hearing of locals not knowing anything about the club AGM which beggs the question that if the nothing is changing and the HFL dont do anything then the country division is in for another year of the same!

yeah they only made the AGM an event on facebook yesterday and its on sunday so that shows you how organised it is.
surely if they played C Grade then the HFL would let their junior teams play in country div?

I think they may need an eye exam!
The Callington United Eagles FC and the Bridgewater Raiders FC are indeed working towards a amalgamation, with the full support of the HFL.
A proposal has been tabled and discussed by the 2 committee's, who have both approved it. It was put to the Callington members at todays AGM, and was past, and just awaits the approval of the Bridgewater members at their AGM in a few weeks, but from the general consensis, this looks to be a formality.
Both parties agree that the deal is in the best interest of the future of both clubs. More details to come once it is ratified and a joint working committee is established. However, the combined club will be looking at fielding all teams from modifieds through to seniors, including a C Grade squad. However, the competition is still to be decided pending any relegation decision. The current view is to move to / continue in Central Division.

Basically what Callington will bring is an oval which will be used during the wetter months when Bridgy is unplayable, and this will also allow Bridgy to host a final. Also junior numbers and importantly possibly sponsorship from the mines. From a recruiting sense they believe that they will have better chances of recruiting when they tell recruits they don't have to play at Bridgy oval all year! Interesting one!
