Maybe it should be a condition of returning to A1's that they replace the pitch.
Will be a shame that a comp that prides itself on its turf decks will only have 3 in the top flight next season.
Unfortunately the Ressies players will get to play on turf more than the 1's next year.
Perhaps Nuri could have pushed for a rule preventing turf clubs to go down

Just levy a1 sides without turf with money going into a pool.

Clubs can then request to access funds from pool to assist putting in decks.

Where is Angaston at with getting a turf deck? Seems to be the only big club without a turf wicket.

Given what the locals know about the Gawler Council, would envisage that neither South or Centrals would ever have turf decks.

Does anyone know the approximate initial outlay to get a turf deck set up and the annual costs?

Considering the Gawler Council initially wanted to charge the Sporting Club an absurd hourly rate to use the current facilities at the Dog Track, I dont think the club management would want to take the risk of spending the time and money to get a turf deck up and running only to have the council increase the rent!

For what it's worth, South should upgrade their pitch to a decent width. Their footy club should also take a break from paying footballers four-figure weekly amounts and upgrade their bloody away changerooms!

R9 - Lost to Freeling by 21 runs
R8 - Lost to Angaston by 27 runs

Speaking of youngsters playing A Grade cricket do Gawler Central players Chris Bilney, Dave Miller, Matt Ness, Matt Perry or Jordan Shephard qualify for that list?

Does Jordan Shepherd even play for your club?

Cant see South spending any money down there soon considering they will more than likely be moving locations in the future.
But yes the pitch widening should be a condition of their return to A1's

Great...I'll start drawing up the changerooms roster for the South game then. We normally do it in about 3 shifts. Forwards, Mids, Defenders...

They can put in a new concrete pitch for F*** all, just needs people to get off their ass and seek help/sponsorship and volunteers to lay it.
Moving sometime in the future is not an excuse.

Absolutely.

We paid a fair sum of cash to the development of the second oval at Stocky. It didn't come for free, and on top of that paid for the 8ft concrete pitch. Not trying to be a hero, but as days says, the relatively minor cost of a concrete pitch in the scheme of things is something clubs should just suck up rather than waiting for a maybe/maybe not move in god knows how many years.

So the club has done some serious sucking up to get him back after he spat it at being left out for a bloke that has never played for the club before.
Hope Solly makes himself available for every week from now on.

What about if we lose a day or 2 to weather, would the association grant special permission for him to play finals?

2 chances of permission being given Jim. It would be hilarious though if either of the 1st day's play of the next 2 games is washed out or too hot making him ineligble for finals. The self destruction process of the club would be complete

Where would you be moving to Jim and any time frame known? There is a serious lack of ovals in Gawler and the Barossa generally. The Xavier ground is not great (even though it is used in the lower grades), whilst the pitch covering is downright dangerous (there is a join and a massive hole right on a good length. Something for Extractor to aim for if he finds himself down there). Possible expansion of Xavier is mooted for the near future, so there's another ground that may become unavailable

Believe plans are afloat to move up to the new estate up Calton Rd near Kalbeeba.
There has been talk of a new oval being built up there to cater for the expansion of Gawler East and Concordia.
Personally cant see it happening for atleast 5 years but with the plans it looks like there will be a hell of a lot of kids up that way in the next 10 years which im sure South would love to tap into.
