You have a few options. Most SFL clubs run an Auskick program to provide a feed in to their mini league teams. In your area directly you have Happy Valley Football Club where it is run on a Friday evening, or the other side of you is Cove Football Club. Happy Valley website is http://www.hvfc.com.au where you can make a phone enquiry to the secretary or send an e-mail enquiry. I believe it starts just after Easter.

Flagstaff Hill also run an Auskick program. Just a matter of making a choice of which area and club you want to go to.

Flaggies run theirs Sunday mornings at 9am. If they are 5yo old or older and could handle playing under 8's get them playing.

Not arguing that, problem is that there is not enough clubs to fill the second division without sending clubs down there that do not deserve it. Cycles referred to those currently nearer the top at the moment.

Seem to be forgetting recent discussions by a number of HFL Clubs in regard to returning to or joining the SFL,if I remember correctly 5 clubs were mentioned for 2014 ,this will certainly provide the numbers for 2 divisions , for what its worth I beleive Div 1 and 2 are the only options with elevation/relegation a sure way of maintaining an even competition

Also need to consider that the SFL has a rigged draw at present. This will also affect the (cycle) gives a false repesentation of where clubs are at.

I think he has finished up this year, a role that is very under rated at a footy club. A good person like Terry running the Auskick gets great word of mouth around the schools and hence gets the kids flowing thru to the subbie program and beyond.

What is a joke is the scorelines over last decade

Morphett Vale finished 10th last season, prior to that top four going back at least to 2004 (including 5 premierships)
Edwardstown finished 9th last season, top 4 in 2009
Flagstaff Hill finished 8th last season, top 4 in previous season
Cove finished 9th in 2011, top 6 following season, top 4 previous season, premiers 2008
Morphettville Park finished 8th in 2011, top 4 following season
Noarlunga finished 9th in 2010, Port Noarlunga 10th in 2010, do you want me to keep going?

There was 1 game separating the teams from 7th to 11th last year, some of those teams beat teams in the top 4 during the season.

How many other competitions can you find where there are 11 teams competitive with each other?

We should not destroy 3-4 clubs by sticking them in a lesser comp just so a few can feel more "elite".

We have clubs at the top whinging about having to pay 4-5 games a year that they consider "uncompetitive". Two divisions will be great for them, just because of where they are fortunate enough to be in the current cycle. What about those teams on the edge who will now have to play 12-13 so called "uncompetitive" games rather than just the 4-5, all for the massive crime of winning one or half of a game less than the two teams at 7th and 8th?

There will still be big scores, just some clubs will be the unwilling sacrifices to appease a few clubs.

Here is a thought which might upset a few people however please know it is not my intention. This is just a thought for discussion not an opinion.

For the last two years there has only been a couple of games that teams outside the 8 have just missed out (up to 11th position). I can't look back any further than this.

Why not Aldinga join the great southern league & Lonsdale Lions merge with Hackham? We could reduce the teams to 13, would not need two divisions or the ridiculous north/south idea!

Please don't get offended Lonsdale just think you would have great facilities at hackham, a great deck to play on & have the potential to play finals sooner with all the great junior kids coming through at Hackham. Hackham Lions sounds like a good team name for 2014.

I could see the competition becoming stronger, beachies are pushing teams, marion is improving upwards, would make getting into the 8 even harder.

Any thoughts on this idea?

Well fought out win by the Shoeboys yesterday over Old Ignatius FC winning 106-72 , Plenty for Trev and the coaching panel to ponder for Rd 1 with Comer Miller Sargood Despott and Caudle still to hit the field , Plenty to like down @ the riverbend after a solid pre-season, the new recruits looked impressive Young u/16 Troy Johnson proved once again he will be one to watch

I'd take it one step further Spangy and move the northern teams who are struggling/not attempting to fill junior sides.

I can not understand why Morphy Parks & Marion don't join the amatuer league.. both clubs I believe would be successful as they have a far greater emphasis on their Senior sides.

Morphy Parks have their juniors playing Sunday already and Marion could compete against clubs with a similar skill level, so the SAAFL would definitely suit both clubs better than SFL.

And depending on how Towns go with their juniors this year, we could have a really strong 10-11 team SFL comp all with a full compliment of saturday sides, and every team would play each other twice meaning there would be no uneven draw

Brighton beaten by about 22 goals. Brighton B Grade won by about 8 goals. Go figure.

Due to a wedding and injuries Brighton had about a dozen A Graders miss the trial and about 6-8 guys were required to play both trials. Some very tired boys at the end.

In saying that Port Districts were a fantastic team and played some very exciting footy. Mark Tyler should be congratulated the brand of footy they are playing. Their bigger bodies and older heads had a field day.

It was a disappointing result especially after pushing an A1 side to a couple of goals the week before.

It was Matt Carey.
He was flown back to RAH for surgery as he broke his fibula and dislocated his ankle.
It's very disappointing. Matt is a very talented footballer who will be out of action for a while whilst giving it time to mend properly and then rehabilitate

Bad luck for the lad. Wish him well in his recovery, but from that description would be a good 10-12 weeks. The curse of the trial game.

Is Brett Backwell still at Morph park? And if so will he actually play most the season and where does that leave them with points if so?

Also does anyone know the status of Dan May from valleys? Is he able to play this year? Had a bad broken leg start of last year. When on form is in valleys best 3 players.

May is not playing for Valleys this year. I think he may have headed back to KI to play. His injury also did not heal that well after breaking it in the first round against Flaggies and he's had ongoing issues with it. Hope he does play again, was an absolute gun.
