Nah, disagree, by having it at thebarton you can to a certain degree control who attends the game. Which as we know is half the issue. In addition it sends a pretty strong message to the players that what they have been doing and have done isn't appropriate and can and has adversely affected the club.

Dutchy is trying his best to change things out there but might be a big task. One thing i did notice, was that after each time someone was suspended and served there SAAFl handed down penalty, they came back straight into the A grade. I would of thought a club imposed penalty as well may have helped?

It's a tough one, especially if they are an influential and important A grade footballer and you are fighting to either make finals or avoid relegation - or both if it is a very even competition like this year.

No excuse, even after the yellows, nothing was imposed on Garner and now look where they are.

They're bloody lucky they still have any points.

There is the difference in a club really wanting to change its culture and a club who just say they are and piss in the wind. If they kept it up they probably wouldn't have a club to play for.

Not necessarily.

Blackfriars haven't won an away game all year, CU is a 5 goal better team at home, Mofflin is one of the toughest road trips in the comp I'm pretty confident in saying CU would have beaten them at home.

Your missing the point.

If Units had lost points just as Smithfield had, then they wouldn't have been playing for a finals spot.

I hadn't realised that. Not a good sign for this weekend in the rematch of the 2012 elimination final that was played at our ground and Locks got up by a point in the last minute.

i think BOSFC are a very good outfit but would agree with JB..mofflin is worth 5 goals..they may still have lost but its a whole new ball game playing out there compared to playing at thebarton..

Fair enough I would have thought.

Up to Round 18 "they did the crime" and "then they did the time"....metaphorically speaking. If the reason to mitigate a potential risk is based on past transgressions, that then should have been made clear to CU that they are in affect "on parole" with restrictions at the time of being handed the penalties (which they thoroughly deserved). The Leagues actions (if true) are seemingly based on the premise the entire Club is not to be trusted so presume the worst without any regard the impact any such action may have on a club that has already paid for its past transgressions....The Club has an image problem, they know it, and have already taken action to address these problems. If the League Executives concern is for a group of Pollies whose own governance has seen them effectively "stuff up" this country (IMO) during their time in office, are so sensitive about being exposed to Amateur League Football or wherever it is played, let them have the meeting at a Blackfriars Schoolboys game where there sensibilities may be less offended. But don't stuff up a Club's (good or bad) endeavours to raise finances from promoted events at such short notice based on the assumption of what might occur. At the very least the should have the decency consider to compensate them if the want to play "politics" ahead of the interests of one of its own members.

Probably one of the best posts i have read on this site. Yes the club has had some bad publicity in the past, but having no consideration for the effort they had put in for there home game crowd and sponsors day is wrong in my book.
If the club is to be punished, do it at the time, not on a Thursday before the game and making your decision on what you think may happen.

The League couldn’t impose the penalty until Steven Garner was found guilty on Wednesday Night because any suspended penalty was based on a Central United player being found guilty at the tribunal.

If the league had taken the match off from the Units before Thursday, you’d all be saying they hung them before the trial...oh wait

Reality is the penalty was an extension of an ongoing one on CUFC from the "poogate" and they knew it – end of story.

I hear though that the league has delivered the final blow today though at this stage Im not sure of the details.

Watch this space.

Not sticking up for United here and completely understand the League coukdnt do anything until Garner went up, but how many tines has a club lost a home game over a striking charge. Feeling a bit for Smithfield.

But anyway, massive game this week v CLG.. Looking like finals has come a week early with plenty on the line for all finals aspirants.. Winner of Rosies CLG earn a week off and all finals as home games.. Winner of WOS and Locks get a double chance.. BOS have the first of 2 possible elimination finals this week, there next loss is there last..

Really starting to crank up now, hopefully the last couple of weeks will act as a learning curve for us and we can turn it around and get back to playing our best.. Up the kennel

Would've thought no mercy is spot on the money!

FC is spot on..... I understand the problem for CU was they were already under sanctions already imposed upon them for earlier misconduct by individuals with their Club and were on Notice that heavy penalties would apply if further transgressions were reported. Such appears to be the case this time. The fact that the penalty handed down after due process has impacted on a promoted event makes the point why each Club has the responsibility to keep its own house in order. If not it can cost you big time.

Havent got alot to say after a 23 goal pantsing No Mercy..

Just a couple of facts in your post, saying we had won 14 straight when we only won 13 games for the year.. And that there was 2 games remaining and we were entering the last round.. Means little but I just like the facts correct when people seem to pot my club mate, thats all..

I will say that I was blown away with CLG performance on Saturday.. Hard running side and move the ball superbly, absolutely smashed us.. Scott-Collings is a freak, and Harvey just gets the job done.. As silly as it sounds i think Matty Lyons was serviceable on him, but when the ball comes in about 70 odd times its near on impossible to stop a player like him..

Look forward to 2 home finals v Westminster this week.. Bring on finals footy

Panic stations at Rosewater? I'm astounded at how they managed to lose top spot. The injury to their ruckman has been a huge loss by the sounds of things.
Tough game this week against Westminster who are coming off a great win against Lockleys who are no slouches.

C'mon zed, gimme a break. The league would really be looking forward to the Units playing Smithfield in Div 7 2014. NOT. Half Smithfields boys are defecters from CU and vice versa. I believe that carey will sort it out in pre-season and the Units will become a "unit" again. Regardless of the Leagues sanctions.

And morell, get off the forum, you are showing your nerves for the upcoming finals.

it's only a question yankman! :)

fwiw I think rosewater will be a very different team this week with some pressure lifted off of them..sounds strange but that's just my gut feeling..we also rate wosfc highly..any team with 4 guys in it who have played sanfl is going to have a lot of class and experience..last time they met rfc won easily..
