Foundations have been laid and hopefully continue to build for the Sharks.

I've stayed loyal to the club since 2002 when plenty have come and gone and I've seen them get success elsewhere. Haven't always agreed with things but I haven't left for something easier.

crazy yeah, but how far away from adelaide is aldinga and how far away is angle vale?
Love your driving interest marbles. Facts are SFL has gate revenue and reduced affiliation fees. I hear your argument and yes they would be better off in SAAFL to gain some glory, but at the end of the day it's about keeping your club viable and that's what they do. For me going to Aldinga from MP would have been easier than going to AV, but AV were tough to beat so it's a no brainer. Money dictates SFL but it doesn't in Div 7 SAAFL.

good news for the scheme of things
excuse my unrestricted use words here, am not forcing any issues only discussing what most are prob too scared to discuss...
hypothetical....
aldinga joins saafl in 2014 >> nek minnutt >> holy sh&t we're a chance for a premiership for the first time since 1993!!!!!!
its the year of the sharks!!! go the sharks!! and all those who love aldinga fc will be buzzing, the joint will be alive again.
BUT no stuff it - lets stay crap and aim for the 2025 sfl premiership instead, and the next 15 years all the efforts of our volunteers can go unrewarded, the players can have minimal hope, and the sharks in 2014 will aim to win 5 matches instead - yay!!!
NOTE: this is not projected at Aldinga themselves, it relates to all the little battlers in the sfl, & i also understand the logistics of such a move

Where do you fit the juniors (the template for sustained success) in your grand plan?

This factor seems to be lost on many in the SAAFL. Happy Valley and most clubs in the SFL are similar in that our A grade squad only has 4 imports to top up a squad of junior players that developed through our system. Of these, only one carried full points this year and one carried zero points. Without a strong junior set up, clubs will never have sustained success in the comp.
clubs that do not put resource, focus and development into their juniors are destined to be cherry picked by other clubs and will find themselves having to import heavily and that carries a big price tag and has potential to damage the fabric of a club. For all its faults, the SFL is a good model that works, keeps costs in check and provides the opportunity for all to be really involved at all levels by having these groups train, play and develop together and play in front of reasonable crowds week in week out.
I'd far rather be in this system than travelling all over the place and stretching resources even further than they are currently.

well obviously aldinga cant move their juniors to the MSJFL, its obviously not possible for the sharks to put A-Grade in saafl
