Home games would be much higher than that. Crows haven't dropped below 44k I think

Port had 47 or so against geelong and high 30s against brissy too. And then the showdown

Average attendance (Both Clubs) 45, 007
Highest: 50, 397 - Showdown
Lowest: 36, 231 - Port v Brisbane
Crows Ave: 45, 470 per game
Port Ave: 44, 545 per game

Good numbers regardless!

yeah thats excellent, I would think that would surpass their expectations. especially with port selling out the game against geelong. who would have thought that a couple of years ago.

Just shows what happens when you have a world class stadium where people can get easy access to it.

Onfield success also plays a huge role, will be interesting to see the crowds in the depths of winter, especially if the crows keep losing to melbourne and the like :(

Interesting little article by Rucci this morning asking where all the people have gone who said Port Adelaide needed to ditch the way the club connects with the history of the club, change the name and guernsey and reinvent the club to be any chance of dragging ourselves off the canvas.

There seemed to be no chance of Port Adelaide making headway taking the real Port Adelaide into the market place.

I assume these people will admit they were wrong.

Winning games and AO have been the only reason for the club turning things around, had the trend continued, tarps etc they would well have been correct. Most Port Power supporters couldnt give a sH*t if the reserves won or not, the majority I know support other SANFL sides. So the connection with 'history' has little to do with it IMO.

The key thing is to acknowledge the history but not be defined by it. I think they have done a lot better at that in recent years.

But yeah footy smart is right, winning games helps a ton. As does AO which is awesome.

Gonna be interesting to see how crowds go in the depths of winter. or if the crows continue to lose :(

Yeah, there's nothing that the off field people have done to contribute to the turn around ( other than Adelaide Oval move )....

They have certainly done well, but the work is on the 'back of extremely good results and the move to the oval'. if you were still non competative and at AAMI it would make the off field staff's job extremely tough.... as you put it

To say winning and AO is the catalyst is inaccurate I feel, Adelaide Oval has only been used this season, I don't think enough recognition has been given to the people behind the scenes who have turned it around since Primus was sacked especially with the appointments of people in key positions.

Yep, it seems 3 games at Adelaide Oval was the answer all along!

Serious question. When was the last time a non showdown game was sold out? Did they ever sell it out in the early 2000s when they were dominating?

AO certainly is a factor. Not the only factor, you have to have your house in order to be able to capitalise on that, and the certainly have done that. But early season average crowd of 44k or whatever it is would be well above their expectations

No shit!

But we are competitive because of that off field work.

Point = missed.

Two weeks ago, v Geelong. :D

I'll have to look into that, but I'd say 03/04 there were sold out games at Footy Park IIRC.
