Winning games and AO have been the only reason for the club turning things around, had the trend continued, tarps etc they would well have been correct. Most Port Power supporters couldnt give a sH*t if the reserves won or not, the majority I know support other SANFL sides. So the connection with 'history' has little to do with it IMO.

They have certainly done well, but the work is on the 'back of extremely good results and the move to the oval'. if you were still non competative and at AAMI it would make the off field staff's job extremely tough.... as you put it

AO certainly is a factor. Not the only factor, you have to have your house in order to be able to capitalise on that, and the certainly have done that. But early season average crowd of 44k or whatever it is would be well above their expectations
